ok so i was working out wit my buddy n he told me that he jus joined this BJJ place. On sunday morning after boxing, i went there, and told the instructor (Don Whitefield) that i'd like to join. We started and as a warm up we just started rolling around. Don told me 2 go with this white guy, so i did and i would always pull a rubber guard (courtesy of the shoes for giving me Eddie Bravo's Rubber guard) and go to a omoplata, and from there go to side mount. I got this 2/4 times on the guy. We got a water break after and Don asked me, "where did you learn the rubber guard from?"

I responded, "from Eddie Bravo":sifone:
Don said "Oh you went to his seminar?"
I replied "Oh he had a seminar?!?!?!? Danmmmm i missed it"
Don answered "Yea he was here last week!"
we left it at that. Secretly I was a bit embarrassed to say that i learned the rubber guard from the internet, so i never really gave him an answer

We started class again, did some sit-ups and stretched. Then he showed us some sweeps from butter fly guard. Then we rolled around some more again. Near the end of class we played this "game" where he got a piece of tape and stuck it on our collar of our GI's and the goal was to be the last person with the tape still stuck on you. Every body's hands were down except me, so i was like striking the other guys, trying to grab their tape, for some reason, i was never able to rip it off; i would always feel it, but it was too sticky too peel off.

Eventually 3 guys teamed up on me and got my tape. After class he was telling me that my stand up is really good, but my ground game is not up to par. Then he started talking to me about payments n stuff. I asked him "Who did you learn BJJ from?"
He replied "Oh i learned from Ricardo de la Riva, and Carlson Gracie"
I was in shock "Oh from Carlson Gracie?!?!?"
he smiled, "yea, i also train down in Miami"
So i was thinking, which team trans in Miami? I said "American Top Team?"
The smile on his face was even bigger; as i had guess which camp he trains at on the first try. "Yea i go down there and train."

one thing lead to another as i zoned out a bit, because my friend called earlier about watching iorn man later. I remember him saying one of his guys is in KOTC with a 5-2 record. I zoned back out and the next thing i remember him saying was "Antonio Minotauro Nogueira is coming here in June to help him out, visit, and train."I was in disbelief, because nothing really big happens around here.

When i was about to leave, he showed me his ATT jacket, and say "if you want to stay for the adult class if you want, just put back on your GI."
I replied "No its ok, but thank you any ways, i give to be somewhere right now"

Overall the class was great, every one there is realy friendly, and so far it doesn't seem like a McDojo. I looked him up and everything and heres the school website http://www.jiujitsulife.com/instructor.htm
The next day i read about Big Nog' and Silva opening up a gym, and Nog has a fight in Augest, so i'm not too sure about Big Nog coming to our class; this is starting to give me doubts about the classes being a McDogjo =(

I remember when I first went to my first BJJ class in the mid-ninetys and it seemed to be so much less difiicult or energy consuming than my old wrestling practices...

And now it seems hard as hell to this out of shape fool.

Josh Barnett is a good example of a more modern day catch wrestler.

Catch wrestling later became known as what you see as sports entertainment... but back then the holds were legit and the matches were yet to be PLANNED OUT.

for more information this is a great place to learn about it http://www.catchwrestle.com/info.htm

this is another video of me using another catch submission hold.
