when are you guys getting married?
ninjashoes 04-28-2008, 08:51 PM edit:I would get a dual core thats clocked higher instead, nothing really uses quad core yet
heres one with a free game
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115028
thats up to you though quad core is fine
I would get a motherboard that supports sli, you might want that in the future
make sure your psu can handle all that shit, you might need to upgrade if there isnt enough juice on the 12 volt rails
really no reason to get so much memory, current operating systems can't use it all unless its a 64 bit os and then it will be slower anyway, 2 gigs is fine
ItBurnzWhenIP 04-28-2008, 09:36 PM I just picked up Falcon Northwest's top of the line computer. Spared no expense.
ItBurnzWhenIP 04-28-2008, 09:36 PM I lie
Resin 04-28-2008, 11:16 PM when are you guys getting married?
you wouldn't be invited with that tone.
ninjashoes 04-28-2008, 11:52 PM you wouldn't be invited with that tone.
ok im sorry
Resin 04-29-2008, 01:17 AM *hugs ninja
Cumshoe 04-29-2008, 01:36 AM Get one with that new hypervisor that lets you run VMs so you can run Ubuntu and Solaris on the same box.

right now, especially for games a fast clocked dc is faster then a q6600. but im hopeing down the line more games will support quad core. plus i like to model and use ps. so paying 20 bucks aint gonna hurt. as for memmory. it's dirt cheap, and since I will be using vista 64 i need 4 gigs. ive learned from my last build not to skimp on memory.
Pcmaker 04-30-2008, 06:29 PM Go for 2 GB of RAM.
4 GB actually will slow it down a bit. XP can only recognize 3GB of RAM total, but if you have 3, you can't run Dual Channel.
So, yeah, get 2.
FRITZ Aint no bitch Diaz 05-01-2008, 07:49 AM im gonna run it on vista. so does vista support 4gigs?
FRITZ Aint no bitch Diaz 05-01-2008, 07:54 AM http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=2163&page=4
uuuuyyyyyyyy good call pcmaker. So what kind of memory would you recomend?
FRITZ Aint no bitch Diaz 05-01-2008, 08:03 AM wait, what if i run it on vista 64bit. And get a 4gb set. will i then notice any improvment?

I read somewhere that some site(I think it was Toms Hardware) ran a test, 64 bit windows against 32 bit windows and the 32 bit os with 2 gigs performed faster than the 64 bit with 4 gigs.
I put 4 gigs in my computer when I upgraded it, I think I'm gonna end up ripping 2 gigs out and putting together another system so I can have two computers to look at gay porn side by side.
FRITZ Aint no bitch Diaz 05-03-2008, 12:06 AM pcmaker is this tru because i dont trust that cracker ass cracker above me?
ninjashoes 05-03-2008, 02:55 AM well I can't say I know very much about the advantages of using 64 bit right now, I do know there are compatibility with certain software which makes me wary to switch right now at least
eventually we will all be using 64-bit os, Vista has shitty compatability anyway you might as well jump aboard now and if you do you probably should have more than 2 gigs but if you are gonna stick to 32 os I would stick to 2 gigs, just research it a bit and decide
Pcmaker 05-03-2008, 06:30 AM go with XP. Better for gaming. Better for everything.
Microsoft already pretty much abandoned Vista. They're pushing their programmers to release Windows 7 to come out 2009.

+1 Vista is pure shit, its a disaster like Windows ME
ShadowoftheDarkgod 05-03-2008, 08:10 AM Yeah, Windows ME > Vista.
We used to have some 64 bit Xp on our school. Too bad, very very few softwares could run on it. I just don't see the advantage of it supposedly being faster when only thing that you could run on it is Minesweeper.
FRITZ Aint no bitch Diaz 05-04-2008, 08:33 AM after looking into things further. Im gonna go with 64bit vista along with 4 gigs of ram. everybody hates on the new os.. vista is no different.

Nothing wrong with making the jump to 64 bit but as far as Vista goes if people were just hating on a new OS then Microsoft wouldnt already be replacing it with Windows 7 so soon. Its like when Blu Ray won the format war and a few stragglers were refusing to give up on HD DVD.
If your worried about not getting Direct X 10 graphics on Crysis you can just use the very high hack with XP.
