one of my favourite fights of all time was a one sided beatdown by Duran on a young Davey Moore
Duran was supposed to be done at age 32, all the boxing experts had Moore winning the fight by KO

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yRiURENunq4&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yRiURENunq4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Duran was just brutal this fight, rules were broken but so was Daveys face

Duran got in his fair share of low blows but Moore kept punching after the bell in nearly every round, Moore landed his best shots of the night this way
Duran smiling at Moore is one of the scariest looking moments in boxing history

Yeah the Ali/Williams fight is probably Ali at his aboslute best, I dont think any HW could have beaten him that night except maybe prime Larry Holmes.

I"m a big Duran fan but I felt bad for Moore, he got hit with everything but the kitchen sink. Thrown to the wolves too fast

yeah you gotta feel bad for Moore, only 24 years old and everyones picking him to beat Duran
when it got to about round 5 Moore must have been thinking they tricked him out of his title
I sat up til 3am watching Duran and Hearns fights and had to talk about it

Tyson/Douglas was a solid beatdown.
Its funny because at the time[i watched it live]i was so caught up in the Tyson aura that i didnt see it happening.I just thought Mike was gonna land a hook or whatever at any moment and bye bye Buster.

Roy Jones Jr. kicking the shit out of David Telesco with one hand in the Radio City Music Hall when he came to the ring with Method Man and Redman... Telesco celebrated surviving the full 12 rounds but when Jones Jr. was interviewed after the fight, he revealed that he had fractured his left wrist three weeks before the fight.

Honorable mention to his first round KO of Virgil Hill after he was disqualified in the previous fight against Hill for hitting him when he was down.

PBF vs Arturo Gatti and Calzaghe vs Jeff Lacy are my two favorite. I actually picked Lacy to knock Calzaghe out. A lot of people did.

Joe C vs Lacy was awesome - When Lacy was demanding a rematch and Calzaghe said he'll give Lacy 1,007 reasons why Lacy doesn't really want one HA PWNT

Another 1 sided beating was Wlad against Ray Austin... He never even threw a punch with his right hand.

I really enjoyed watching Cotto stomp ass on Gomez last Saturday even though it only further justifies Gatti needing to retire.I just hate that everytime they refer to Gomez from now on it's going to be as the guy that retired Gatti.

^LMAO, this happened when I first started watching boxing. They were hyping Wlad up like he was the second coming of Jesus Christ, and then he got beat like he was a journeyman, I was confused as hell.

Holmes would have been crushed by a prime Ali

Beanflicker
04-25-2008, 01:46 AM
Crushed? Naaah I dont agree with that, I think Holmes would give any Ali hell, maybe even beat him.

Holmes's jab > Ali's jab

bad style matchup for Ali IMO.

I think ali beats him two out of three times though.
with very controversial decisions.

Ali's jab IMO is better than Holmes. Ali's was so fast.

Beanflicker
04-25-2008, 05:24 PM
Ali had faster hands but Holmes' jab was harder and more accurate. Holmes is one of the most overrated dudes ever, a lot of people don't even consider him top 5.

you mean underrated and yes you are correct. He did not have an exciting style and didn't have the mouth like ALI had to talk himself up. So people don't get him on the brain.

LOL yeah underrated sorry, big fuck up on my part. Yeah you're right. He sounded like a dumbass when he talked and he really came off as arrogant, and I guess saying Rocky Marciano couldn't carry his jockstrap (which is true IMO) didnt win him many fans.

Fuck it, I still think you're awesome Larry. He had everything except huge power and marketability

04-27-2008, 04:38 PM
^Very true. Larry Holmes would beat almost any fighter that ever lived. I would like to see him (in his prime) vs Wlad. It would be a tremedously boring fight i'm sure being as both guys have such awesome jabs but maybe it would force Wlad and Holmes to throw more of their arsenal in there.

Beanflicker
04-28-2008, 09:54 PM
I think Wlad's lack of body punching would really limit him against Holmes. I'd take Larry over him, if he can withstand that missle right hand from Shavers I'd say he can withstand Wlad's right hand.
