Brown bread? What do you mean by brown bread? Brown is a colour, you need to be more specific. Theres very few breads that are good for you. Most have high fructose CORN SYRUP in them and thats just fucking terrible for losing weight. Try not eating bread at all. Use lettuce for sandwhiches instead. And make scrambled eggs instead of eggs and bread(if you even use that).
White pasta - Terrible to eat if you're trying to lose.
Baked potatoes, if you have them after a workout, without any butter or bacon bits or other sauce, is okay.
jomomma 04-03-2008, 03:44 AM Healthy Eating Tip #1: You reach for multigrain bread or cereal
Foods labeled 7-grain or multigrain may seem like the healthiest choices — especially with new findings showing that a diet rich in whole grains protects against heart disease, cancer, and other ills.
The famed Nurses' Health Study documented lower rates of heart disease and stroke among whole grain eaters. Experts don't know all the reasons behind the benefits, but they do know that intact grains are rich in fiber and nutrients — including vitamin E, B vitamins, and magnesium — that are stripped away when grains are refined into flour.
Unfortunately, many foods are only posing as rich in whole grains. "Take a closer look at the labels and you may find there's not a single whole grain in them," says Cynthia Harriman, director of food and nutrition strategies for the Whole Grains Council, a nonprofit consumer group in Boston.
The Reason: Labels can claim that products contain grains even if they're highly processed and stripped of most of their nutrients and all of their fiber. "White flour is made from grain, after all," says Harriman.
Smarter Move
Learn the lingo of food claims. Bread that's 100% whole grain means just that — it contains no refined flour. Cereal that's made with whole grain may have a little or a lot. Crackers labeled multigrain may not have whole grains at all.
To be sure you're getting the grains you want, check the ingredients panel. Whole grains should be the first or second ingredient listed. Luckily, finding whole grain products is easier now that manufacturers supplying at least 16 g of whole grains per serving — what's considered an excellent source — are stamping their packaging with the Whole Grains Council's logo.
Nick16watt 04-06-2008, 07:55 PM Eat Organic, and lose the dairy.
Radar 04-12-2008, 03:32 PM IF you're "strict dieting" then you need to cut your carbs to the bone. That means ALL of the stuff on your list is verboten.
You need to drop anything regarded as a "white" food, and that includes potatoes, rice, bread, and pasta of all hues. If you are committed to a shorter-term ripping diet then you should also get rid of the fruit (fructose converts to fat more readily than other energy sources)
Your meals should now only consist of 5 to 6 small portions per day of low-fat protein and a leafy green vegetable (veg as raw as your stomach can handle)
e.g half a chicken breast and three chunks of broccoli, six times a day for six-to-eight weeks (boring but effective)
parker 04-18-2008, 10:26 PM ok thanks will give that a try

maybe you should be more specific about what fats to stay away from. everyone needs fat. 30% of my daily calories come from fat, albeit the good mono-unsaturated kind.
almonds, flaxseed, essential fatty acids, and conjugated linoliec acid should be staple of anyones diet.
jomomma 05-23-2008, 04:47 AM from udo erasmus: Scientists have given essential fats (a.ka. essential fatty acids or EFAs) their name because the body must have them to survive, but cannot synthesize them from any other substance we eat, so a direct food source is required.
Hence, the name essential. There are many kinds of fats, but only two kinds of essential fats: omega 3 (n-3 or w3) and omega 6 (n-6 or w6), both of which are unsaturated fats. Each EFA is turned into several derivatives by the body, provided enough n-3 and n-6, in the right ratio, and made with health in mind, are supplied.
All other fats, such as omega 9 (monounsaturated), omega 7, and saturated fat, are non-essential because the body can produce them from sugars and starches.
Where do Essential Fats come from? Sources of n-3s are flaxseeds and green leafy vegetables. The n-3 derivatives EPA and DHA are found in high fat, cold water fish such as albacore tuna, sardines, Atlantic halibut and salmon, coho, pink and king salmon, Pacific and Atlantic herring, Atlantic mackerel, and lake trout. Small amounts of EPA and DHA n-3s are also found in oysters and other shellfish.
N-6 is found in sesame and sunflower seeds and other seeds and nuts. Land animal meats and fish are sources of the n-6 derivative arachidonic acid (AA). The fish listed above are preferred sources of n-3 and n-6 derivatives, because they are the richest sources, and contain both, with more n-3s.
Nanoid 05-23-2008, 08:25 AM But remember that big predatory fish are also rich in accumulating heavy metals, such as mercury. I'm not saying you shouldn't eat fish, but the older the fish (ie. the more other fish it has eaten) the higher the heavy metal content. Mercury accumulates preferentially in the fatty tissues so it's exactly the kind of fish that are desirable for their content of essential fats that also contain a lot of mercury.
Canned fish is usually smaller specimens, so they should be safer.
Not all fish are mercury you are thinking of tuna. Essential fats are mostly bullshit as far as how much they say to eat... referring to peanut butter.
Just to let you know I am a nutrition god. What would you like to know if I don't reply I message me and I will send you my diet. Which will stripe fat off your body and put some muscle on.
Nanoid 05-25-2008, 04:53 PM It's true that tuna are one of the kinds of fish that I was talking about, but it is by no means the only kind.
Mercury (and all other accumulating heavy metals, lead for instance) is deposited in the fatty tissues of all vertebrates when they are ingested. So when an animal that contains some heavy metal is eaten by another, then that heavy metal is absorbed and ends up in the fatty tissues.
The body cannot get rid of heavy metals, so whatever you get in will stay there. This means that:
- The higher up the food chain you get (for instance tuna, but also salmon or mackerel) the more heavy metal is in the animal's food.
- The bigger the specimen, the more food it has eaten and therefore it has consumed more heavy metal. Which will end up in you if you eat the animal.
The heavy metal contamination isn't exclusive to fish. Since the water/octanol distribution coefficent for many of the pollutants in the sea is very small, it will tend to accumulate in the fatty tissues of the creatures that live there.
