I was just wondering which pro-wrestlers has the best chance(with training) could be a decent mma fighter.I think Shelton Benjamin and Kurt angle could be pretty good fighters.....especially in the cage.

I think the OP is right, Shelton Benjamin and Kurt Angle would do well with their wrestling backgrounds.

I always wanted to see Goldberg get into an MMA ring. After WCW folded I heard he was doing a lot of MMA training but never had any matches or anything.

Moving from Pro Wrestling to MMA can be done. Sean Ohare, not sure if I spelled that right, wrestled in WWE and WCW before going to a smaller MMA promotion. I remember reading that he even won a few matches too.

Kurt Angle could have been a very good MMA fighter before he hurt his neck. If he had trained strikes and sub defense after the Olympics were over who knows what would have happened.

Yeah... but did you watch it when you were a kid?

Gregoire
08-16-2006, 04:09 AM
yeah i did, so you want me to name someone from then?
My favorite guys were like Jake the Snake, Hawk and Animal, and maybe one of the Bushwackers would do well in the UFC HW division.....

Yeah that was the shit... I don't understand why you hate it so much, I don't watch WWF anymore but I don't have a reason to hate it.

Now? Shelton Benjamin for sure. I was thinking about this a few weeks ago when I caught RAW. I don't follow too closely like when I was a kid, but I'll still watch every now and then.

Hell, if Angle would have gone in the UFC instead of WWF, he could have been a Coleman, Couture type of fighter. I think he would have done great.

Kurt Angle before destoying himself with drugs and over booked schedule. Someone should have said to him that it's ok to take it easy.

I'm gunna go out on a limb and say Bob Backlund, he used to be a very good folkstyle i believe he won NCAA div II championship in 1971 (maddd throwback)...But was also a student of Karl gotch the O.G. of submission grappling....Backlund woulda been good with the old school....and now im just rambling....

If Kurt Angle never hurt his neck then yeah he would've been a force, and MMA would have had their first olympic gold medalist. Off topic i think that wrestling will take of now with MMA. Before mma, wrestlers had no where really to go besides pro wrestling, but now they can use their skills in the UFC/Pride or wtever else.

Bret Hart by far, he could probably tap out most mma fighters with the sharpshooter

I would really like to see Undertaker in a mma fight, because in all his wrestling matches he is always using a mma grappling move....lol.....he does the triangle choke a lot....i would like to see him try and do that to a mixed martial artist.

i remember an old interview, from sherdog i think, where undertaker said he's a great mma fan, and he would have loved to have a shot in the old ufc.

i would think that charlie haas and shelton benjamin might be able to do decently assuming that they get time off to train and heal from the nightly bumps they take. the wear and tear on the body from pro wrestling is extreme.

Bob Backlund would have been real interesting to see in the early UFCs putting the likes of Art Jimmerson and Harold Howard in the cross face chicken wing.

wrestlers who actually wrestled can like shelton and kurt but i dont think they will gain much success so they should stick to pro wrestling.

Personally, I'd rather see an MMA-Pro Wrestling crossover, ie. Shamrock.

hehehe funny shit.

I think bret hart or maybe tazz. Tazz supposedly has a black belt in judo and his tazzmission was some sort of judo choke move or something. There's a lot of guys out there with good grappling skillz. all it would take was a cross over in striking which someguys already have. I cant think of any other names at the moment. Some of the stiffer japanese fighters maybe? I mean they've been doing it for years now.
