View Full Version : Formula 1 2008 Season
Thomas Ace 03-13-2008, 08:08 PM The Formula 1 season starts this weekend with the first Grand Prix in Australia...
Thoughts on the Driver and Constructor Championships?
Will Kimi repeat? Will this be the year for the phenom Lewis? And can Alonso make another run with Renault?
And finally thoughts on the ban of Traction Control? Will it make a big difference?
Thomas Ace 03-13-2008, 08:14 PM I'm personally more geeked up about this season then the last few just cause there are so many possiblities for this season. I'm personally a McLaren fan... I cried when we lost Montoya and Kimi... was on top of the world when we got Alonso and Lewis Hamilton... cried when we lost the constructor's title cause of the Formula 1's version of "Spygate"... was estatic when we gave Alonso the boot (fucking prat) and am psyched to get a solid #2 driver in Kovalainen for Lewis Hamilton.
Thomas Ace 03-13-2008, 08:15 PM Fuck I love Formula 1
Thomas Ace 03-13-2008, 08:16 PM And I didn't even mention the new F1 drivers that I can't wait to see... Sebastien Bourdais and Nelson Piquet Jr... Fuck Yeah!
MMAsterkillah 03-14-2008, 12:42 AM OK Bro, I gotta be honest...
I fucking love sports, but racing, especially overseas like Formula 1...

jomomma 03-14-2008, 06:27 AM lewis hamilton will win though it'll be fun to see him battle that whining bitch fernando alonso & kimi for the title.
kubica impressed last yr, especially after that crash which I seriously thought I just saw him die. cant believe he drove more races a month after this

Yeah I was having lunch at the time and had to stop eating cause I was thinking the same thing, that he was dead. It was crazy though that by clipping the barrier that forced his car a fraction to the left is what saved his life, or else he was taking that first wall square on at full speed. Lucky SOB.
And fuck Alonso... I have a serious hate on for that dude.
Thomas Ace 03-14-2008, 06:16 PM nice post jomomma, repped.
Thomas Ace 03-14-2008, 06:18 PM fuck that was a sick crash
jomomma 03-16-2008, 05:22 AM http://gptours.com/pick8/index.php gptours pick 8 contest, can win an all expense paid trip to monaco
Thomas Ace 03-16-2008, 07:16 AM very cool... I missed the first race... would have gotten Lewis right but then fucked the rest LOL... did you watch it jo... fucking crazy ass race!!! Now lets hear the anthem... GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!
jomomma 03-16-2008, 07:05 PM yep I saw it, kimi sliding all over the place and bourdais did well. all those ferrari's fucked up and none of the 6 finished
Thomas Ace 03-16-2008, 09:14 PM I can't believe that out of all the members here, there isn't more interest in this. Disappointing.
jomomma 06-08-2008, 09:42 PM damn great canadian grand prix, the ferrari's looked shit and I had hamilton winning til the red light crash
kubica wins his 1st race at the track he couldve died at in the crash above.
dylan 06-10-2008, 06:55 AM Definitely the most exciting race of the year. This season looks to be one of the most competitive. Lewis, Kimi, Felipe, Bobby K, and Heidfeld all have a chance at the drivers championship. It's crazy that McLaren is now 3rd in constructors, with bmw sauber goin 1-2 at canada, propelling them into 2nd just behind Ferrari. I'm pullin for Robert Kubica to win the drivers champ, i think his win last race will give him extreme confidence and he'll continue to get podiums throughout the season.
o yea, Lewis hamilton made the "brainfart of the year" award when he collided with the backside of kimi raikkonen's RED ferrari. maybe the karma of his dad crashin that $650k porsche went on lewis.
jomomma 06-14-2008, 06:21 PM F1 generates more money per event than any other sport
Formula One Grand Prixs generate more revenue per event than any other sport in the world, according to research carried out by Formula Money, the organisation which monitors the financial health of F1 motor racing and the Deloitte Sport Business Group.
The research found that each of the motor sport’s 17 races produce an average revenue of $229 million per event – nearly ten times that of its closest competitor, the National Football League, which generates $24 million per game.
Figures from Deloitte Sports Business Group show the NFL and Major League Baseball’s overall revenue was $6.5 billion and $5.1 billion in 2006 respectively – substantially higher than F1’s total revenue of $3.9 billion, although both the NFL and MLB had significantly more events. The English Premier League clubs' combined revenue was $3 billion in the 2006/07 season.
Caroline Reid, co-author of Formula Money, said: "with a ready supply of emerging markets looking to put themselves on the global map in front of F1's 597 million unique television viewers, the sport is likely to grow further east in future. However, at the same time it must make sure it doesn't lose track of its historic heartland”.
Formula One's $3.9 billion is comprised of commercial rights revenues (race sponsorship, corporate hospitality and broadcast fees), team revenues (including sponsorship and contributions from partners and owners) and circuit revenues (from ticket sales and sponsorships).
jomomma 07-20-2008, 06:30 PM hamilton was dominant in the wet at the british gp & could start pulling away today if mercedes narrows the gap on ferrari on the straightaways at hockenheim
Thomas Ace 07-22-2008, 05:35 PM It's been a great season so far. Can't believe Hamilton hit Kimi in Canada, (thought it would fuck his chances with the drivers championship with the penalty the next race tacted on)... was happy Kubica got the win... so happy now to see that McLaren seem to be the faster car over the Ferrari's and I hope they can keep it going.
WAR MCLAREN!!!
tropicana619 07-22-2008, 06:21 PM I think banning TCS makes for a more interesting race, especially when race conditions change due to rain and you start seeing people sliding all over the place...
dylan 07-22-2008, 06:24 PM Was anyone else not impressed by Lewis Hamilton's passes over his teammate Heikki and Renault driver Nelson Piquet at Hockenheim? He basically was given the pass by Kovaleinen and pretty much ran Piquet off the track.
Thomas Ace 07-24-2008, 05:56 AM I'm not impressed with Heikki at all... he's a "matador' driver... someone comes up behind them then OLE!!! they're passed him.
That being said, the McLaren is so much better then the Renault, the pass on Piquet wasn't great by Hamilton but the pass on Massa... that's what impressed me the most.
And what's with all the race weekends with rain or the threat of rain? I agree though that with all the rain and no TCS has made this season wicked.
