Lately I've been pretty sluggish during my workouts not as much energy as normal. I'm still eating pretty well (try to eat 5 times a day with a complete protein and a vegetable at every meal), but in addition to this eating healthy been eating a lot of fries and other bad shit (potato chips). Well not a lot but more than normal. Does this stuff make you feel sluggish, or do you think since i'm still ingesting the normal goods the sluggishness is from something else?

yes...all that fast food shit can make u feel sluggish, and can effect ur cardio/workout. but then it also depends on how much u intake also.

Yes. Also your pre-workout meal should have some fruits in it and easily digestible protein(basically protein shake) so you're not all tired from digesting that shit and you have sugar to burn off.

Also, an MP3 player helps big time. Crank that shit. Then think of yourself as the most ripped motherfucker and how you're goign to destroy everyone at the gym and JUST FUCKING RIP THAT SHIT DOG!!!!!!!!

It could be what you are eating. I know big fast food meals make me feel sluggish.

It could be the lack of sleep or too much sleep.

It could be overtraining.

It could be the fact that you just lost motivation.

It could be that you are just bored with what you are doing and need a change.

It could be you are lacking a pre-workout meal, or your pre-workout meal contains too much protein or fibre or any other substance that saps your energy, or you don't need a pre-workout meal and digesting one is sapping your energy.

Look at all the factors and try to narrow it down. It might take a couple days but you will figure it out eventually.

This is me too.

I'm 30 now and feel a lack of energy compared to when I was younger.

So I just started taking way more vitamins (multi, glucosamine, fish oil, amino acids, calcium), eating and drinking more fruit, eating a little better overall, and being more consistant with my workouts (not skipping so much).

If I add more sleep I hope to get more energy back too.

I also plan to buy some non-steroid supplements that seemed to work for my bro in law.

A lot more work to have energy than when I was younger.

Get more sugar. Your blood sugar level is too slow plus avoid eating that bad shit. Oh, get more sleep as well.

Vegetables while good for you may not be giving you all the Calories you need if you're working out alot.

When I'm training for a fight and run every morning and lift 4 days a week I spend alot of my time being exhausted and sleeping in because it's the nature of my body, it's spend all of it's energy repairing torn muscle tissue it leaves little room to keep you up.

My diet is...

Wake up have Oatmeal, take supplements, drink a cup of V8 fusion (excellent source of vitamins)

go to gym

come home drink 40g of protein

lunch have chicken and some salad

go to MMA practice light sparring or grappling

have a light snack

For dinner have w/e you want, I like to eat out at a restuarant with GF or Fam usually at chilis.

at least this is the habit i've gotten into latley

I also made a big change and stopped using commercial inorganic soaps for everything including dishes. This has made a huge difference in my energy levels! All commercial soaps have toxins that you vaporize with hot water and breathe in, in the shower. Filter your water with a Berkey to get the flouride out or buy water with no flouride. Also get a shower filter. Also stop using toothpaste with flouride. Here's what I use

Jason Healthy Mouth Tea Tree Toothpaste Tea

Dear Friends of Nature,
Did you know that there is a strong link between oral health and general health? Bacteria in the mouth can create infections in the body.

"Saving Smiles" is the JASON goal. To do this, the JASON R&D Lab investigated and incorporated the most effective and powerful pharmacological-grade botanical ingredients proven to help blast bacteria with an exclusive ingredient, Perilla Seed, known for its power to help block sugar acids, glucose, sucrose, S. mutans, from bonding with minerals in your saliva that form tartar on your teeth.

JASON continuously looks for new ways to serve your modern needs. Oral Hygiene is one such area. They fear the dangers of overly-aggressive cosmetic whitening. They see too many natural toothpaste customers turned off by 20 years of unlikeable taste. JASON toothpastes live up to their credo of Pure, Natural & Organic and must pass the same stringent quality testing as all of our products.

JASON continues to be committed to products without additives, preservatives or synthetic sweeteners. And they deliver award-winning great taste! Experience the JASON difference.

Yeah over training can cause you to be sluggish. You also might be dehydrated so drink more water if the training is intense drink gatorade or any other good sports drink that will rehydrate you. I woudlnt suggest anything with caffeine though because yes it will give you an energy boots but usually wont last longer than 15-30 minutes (at least thats what i experience) while training then you might feel even more tired once the effects wear off. Try using some multi-vitamins daily that can help also.
