Squirrel 03-03-2008, 09:07 PM AHH, reps. GOD and myself have been meaning to make a BANKSY thread for some time now. kermitthefrayer 03-03-2008, 09:18 PM This man or group of people are the greatest artists in the world alive today! Squirrel 03-03-2008, 09:25 PM This man or group of people are the greatest artists in the world alive today! Some of his coolest stuff is from buying old boring painting from thrift stores and adding to them. Squirrel 03-03-2008, 09:26 PM This is my PC wallpaper. http://www.gallerynosco.com/image/artwork/Banksy/Jack_and_Jill_(Police_Kids)_26_fullsize.jpg kermitthefrayer 03-04-2008, 02:46 AM And mine! http://static.flickr.com/87/241078240_749ee88a0a_o.jpg Odin 03-07-2008, 10:56 PM my sister has a book full of his stuff, its amazing work. pokey 03-07-2008, 11:59 PM damn his shits pretty cool, i like the one in the drawing section that made me laugh you can really see what he's trying to say banger 03-08-2008, 07:11 PM This is great stuff. I made a copy of your sig pic a while ago. Now I know who does this stuff. Thank you. WickedDix 03-27-2008, 03:36 PM His shit is amazing, probably the best street/graffiti artist out there, I've been meaning to make some stencils of the rats he does and make some t-shirts. BULA 03-27-2008, 03:51 PM this is sweet check out alex grey he will blow your loads WickedDix 03-27-2008, 05:20 PM Checked out alex grey, hes good but not really what I like. I mean I like surreal but his stuff is to... Buddhist... for my liking. And I have a deep hatred for performance artists. Lord Krishna 03-29-2008, 02:32 PM awesome stuff, repped ninjashoes 03-29-2008, 05:59 PM wow this is pretty cool, Im glad I opened this thread, I'm gonna stumble it beetsh 03-29-2008, 09:35 PM His shit is amazing, probably the best street/graffiti artist out there, I've been meaning to make some stencils of the rats he does and make some t-shirts. not even close. its all fucking stencils. some original ideas but definately not the best at graffiti. WickedDix 03-29-2008, 10:46 PM not even close. its all fucking stencils. some original ideas but definately not the best at graffiti. Ehhh its all about opinion, i think ideas make the art, not the execution, in fact because he does his work with stencils adds an element to his work that makes it better, that gives it a certain feel. beetsh 03-30-2008, 04:44 PM graffiti isnt about stencils WickedDix 03-30-2008, 06:03 PM graffiti isnt about stencils OK, so what is it about? beetsh 03-31-2008, 10:13 AM being able to put your picture on the wall with skill. like you would on paper with a pencil. not using a computer to mask out a stencil and then doing something that anyone can do. WickedDix 03-31-2008, 03:24 PM Its a common misconception that people who choose to display there work in certain "nonskilled" forms aren't skilled, Banksy doesn't computer mask his stuff he hand draws it, his website has some of his drawings. Also check out his paintings. And if everyone can do what Banksy can do then why do so many people know about him? Its cause of his message and how he displayed it, art isn't about skill its about your idea. Study some modern art, most of them could paint a photo realistic painting but chose not to, they wanted their work to inspire reactions, to focus on emotions and ideas it would invoke instead of the skill of the painter. beetsh 03-31-2008, 05:23 PM no its all about the skill. i win. end of discussion. beetsh 03-31-2008, 05:26 PM also so many people know about him because he gets media exposure as the arty crowd want to blow sunshine up his ass. WickedDix 03-31-2008, 08:04 PM Well I'm glad it takes no skill, so why don't you go out and be a famous artist? Oh wait I forgot you can't do what he does, good try though. Why don't we bring back the Art Academy and ultra subjective views on art while we're at it. beetsh 03-31-2008, 09:48 PM theres loads of guys that do some pretty good stencils and i didnt say it took no skill - i just said that he isnt the best graffiti artist in the world. deegs 04-01-2008, 11:06 PM celebrities pay crazy amounts of money for his work. he's trendy now, but doubt that he'll really make any sort of impact on anything. he hasn't revolutionized anything. his ideas and themes are repeated ad nauseam by countless others. usually i'll agree that it's more about what the artwork says as opposed to execution, and if that's how you're evaluating this guy, what do you think of the 10,000 other artists doing the same work? graffiti/street art is big right now and he's pretty well known, that's it. anyway, aesthetically it's pretty cool.
