3 x 5 means 3 sets of 5 reps

Deadlift 3 x 3

Bent Rows 3 x 3

Bench Press 3 x 3

Pull ups 3 x near maximal, leave 1 or 2 repsin the tank everytime.

Do them in that order.

Also you need to eat because the more you weigh the more helpful you will be to your team.

Finally the best thing you can do is a couple hours after you get done with your weight training(or possibly before) get a rope and tie it to something immobile and pull against it for 6 to 10 seconds, then switch your position a little bit, like maybe lean back more to simulate situations you might be in during the match. Do between 3 and 5 rounds of each position don't make up any more than 4 positions and try to vary them by more then a few degrees.

good points, blev.

also, don't neglect the grip aspect. perhaps if some of those pullups you can do on a thick rope instead of a bar. you can also climb a rope or just hold it for time.

lol i just saw the date of the contest, aman. maybe training the technique is the best thing you can do at this point, because the contest is only a few days away. training hard would take away from performance day.

Yeah, he could still gain some strength and weight, but not alot. And according to an old study isometrics increase strength faster than any other form of training.

So aman just stick to doing the pulls against the immobale object and don't do anything the day before. Do it today and tomorrow then stop make sure to eat a good amount and get your required sleep so you come in at your best.

Yup. I am pretty strong right now. I'm watching my diet coz I dont wanna get sluggish.... Plus I'm working on conditioning my legs by cycling, running. Pushups/pullups/Ab Exercises etc.

And the match is of open weight category. So more I weigh, the more of an asset I am.

Aman's grip should be pretty good... read his Indeyeah thread...

Also... you boys pretty much covered it... grip, weight, pulling ability. Too bad you don't have more time to train Amanbro...

Also, I expect pics of this competition.

maybe do this with like 3 tension bands tied to a thick tree

Yeah that might work assuming the tension is great enough. I haven't messed with those things in forever. Another helpful thing would be sled pulling just tie a rope to a heavy object stand in place and pull it to you. To bad your training time is pretty much up now aman.

We won the quarter finals today. Semi finals and finals tomorrow. 'twas a difficult match coz it was open weight category and the other team was much heavier and stronger. We really had to try hard. 'twas harder than the last year's finals in which we won. Didnt get any pics of the match but will remember to get 'em tomorrow. I have the prize distribution ceremony pics somewhere on my pc and i'll try to find 'em.

Yup. The first match was toughest. Tougher than the last year's finals. And in the end it was all about who really wanted to win and who held on.

The second one was easier and it was over pretty soon. The third one took a lot of strength and we won that 'un too.

Each team faced 4 teams(we faced 3 coz we were the champs last year). 3 matches each and best of three.

A friend of mine has teh vids, he'll up em soon and I'll p[ost a link.
