NBA Commissioner David Stern has recently talked about how he wanted to have 5 European NBA teams in the NBA within 10 years.

wont happen, nba will follow the soccer model i.e. a true 'world championship' like the champions league. we'll see the top 2 teams from say the nba, greece, italy, spain & china play games to crown a club champion.

it'll work that way b/c basketball is the biggest sport here that translates globally. japanese league has been after mlb to do a true world series since the 80s but it wont happen til the nba goes first

Its the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Stern needs to be replaced. He allowed Tim Donaghy to rig games then he wants to do this bs. What will we have the Celtics take a European road swing and come back absolutely dead after a 2 week road trip out there? European teams will come here for road games? WTF SUCKS

A good friend of mine's brother in law is D Stern's right hand man... a few months ago at a Bday party, the brother in law told me that within a couple of years, there will be a league in China...they will prob take some moderately-washed up, older NBA guys, (albeit big names), and sprinkle them throughout the league...all the while developing local Chinese talent. He said right now in China, they get more than 300 million viewers for each Yao game, even though the games are at very odd hours over there. China represents a HUGE opportunity for them. They have already raised money for this expansion.
