View Full Version : Need to learn how to grapple.
Jason 02-14-2008, 05:42 AM I have never once been to the ground in any of my fights. About the best grappling I can do is prevent TD's. I need to be educated, so I can apply it possibly in the future. I'm looking at you, Resin.

ninjashoes 02-14-2008, 05:56 AM 1.buy BJJ books by the gracies, the most basic one first
2.practice the moves in your garage with Tim Wick
3.try to find as many people to roll with as humanly possible
4.whoops some ass
you could also sign up for classes but those cost $$$
also maybe attend a high school wrestling practice, just tell them your workin on your game, they will probably let you wrestle with them, you work your wrestling real good that way and if you combine it with learning subs and shit with a few friends thats a start anyway but the best thing would to find a gracie lineage BJJ school, they are everywhere

ninjashoes 02-14-2008, 05:59 AM I added more shit to my post
Jason 02-14-2008, 06:03 AM We have no high school wrestling here. We have wrestling organizations, but yeah I gotta learn the bare basics from e-books and shit first I think.
ninjashoes 02-14-2008, 06:04 AM since I wrestled in high school whenever someone challenges me to wrestle I maul them even if theres subs I just defend and score a guillotine or rear naked choke
its so funny beating the shit out of people with no grappling experience, sometimes someone will come along whos had a few BJJ classes or also wrestled then its more of a challenge
I hardly ever meet anyone who is actually a good grappler, I mean most people who train on here would probably whoop my ass because they take classes and practice everyday but my point is even if you just do any martial art for a short time you have such a huge advantage over the average schmoe so long as you stay in shape
ninjashoes 02-14-2008, 06:05 AM theres some people on here I wouldnt even want to face like smokingunz or 40, they look huge, strong and have grappling credentials fuck that shit lol

The best advice i can give you is to start watching or reading Brazilian jiu-jitsu books........And try and find the nearest school's in you're area..... If you live near the ivory coast there are some good schools..... Daniel Lima is an instructor around there................. but yeah get yer head in some books and videos then try and find a class and welcome to the club.

jukeboxhero 02-15-2008, 05:01 AM The best way to learn to grapple is to grapple. There is real subsitute for good training. A good instructor for most people makes all the difference.
