You can't take off your belt to manipulate your opponent. You can use the belt as long as its tied on your body.

the thing behind this is that he was a japanese bjj guy that had been using a gi for 2 weeks and it was his first gi comp and didnt know the rules. this was on sherdog like 2 years ago

i've done it before as long as the belt is hanging on them and you don't take it off them you can use it.
