View Full Version : Which non-MMA athlete has the most potential for MMA?
MMAsterkillah 01-26-2008, 05:22 AM Kind of a gay question, but just curious to see if any of you have any suggestions and adding something new to the forum.
Can you think of any athletes who have athletic traits that you think could translate well... Who do you think would turn out to be the toughest non-combat sport athlete?
Axeman 01-26-2008, 05:24 AM good posting, thats a hard one, I will get back with this shortly for sure.
Axeman 01-26-2008, 05:34 AM ok, I have thought about this long and hard and I have come to the conclusion that there are ALOT of non MMA athletes that are tough enough to make it (maybe) BUT the 1 guy I woulda voted for back in his younger playin days, would have been Tie Domi.

MMAsterkillah 01-26-2008, 05:36 AM Very good call, that guy used to tool on fools.
Another one of my all-time favorites is Marty McSorley.
The Tank Abbott of hockey fights?

ex Toledo GoalDigger ( IHL) I used to watch that Nigga play at every home game, I had season tickets, he was also a BRUIN.

Axeman 01-26-2008, 05:53 AM McSorley would always get into fights in Toledo.
wimmer 01-26-2008, 06:46 AM lol i thought you said non-combat sport
i'll say craig stadler via mustache intimidation
Shaggydoo 01-26-2008, 11:30 AM I think someone like a Lebron James or Dwight Howard from the NBA would be sweet. Very tall, strong, quick, and athletic. With the RIGHT training imagine the kinda strikers they would make.
hotnewton 01-26-2008, 01:11 PM hockey enforcers by large part due to the ability to throw fists while on ice...
I'm gonna have to say Zdeno Chara... he'd be a fucking beast in the HW division.... said to be one of the strongest hockey players in the history of the NHL (if not the strongest) and he has good hands/balance and amazing staming...
Teach Chara to Gogo fools and get him a good high kick coach, then match him up with Tim Sylvia... lol
White Snake 01-26-2008, 04:34 PM Ive heard a lot about Tie Domi's reputation. Also
Mike Tyson
Alexander Karelin
Kyle Farnsworth
Stephen Neal in the NE Patriots was a NCAA wrestling champion
Shaquille O Neal
MMAsterkillah 01-26-2008, 06:09 PM good call with Stephen Neal, I was going to mention him, he is a beast.
I also know Lorenzo Neal trains MMA with Chuck Liddell in his offseasons, that guy is built like a fire hydrant.
Wandy4LIFE 01-26-2008, 07:34 PM Prime in shape Shaq would have been a beast. Also Jim Brown if he were born 40 years later would have been a bad ass dude if he trained. Stan Jonathan for the win!
jomomma 01-26-2008, 08:19 PM AI was all state in football and hoops & Randy Moss was also a talented basketball player...he could be a bigger A. Silva using his legs in the clinch and in BJJ
wimmer 01-26-2008, 10:04 PM mugsy bogues
bigbadroy 01-26-2008, 10:26 PM brock lesnar
Axeman 01-26-2008, 11:09 PM mugsy bogues
LMAO, he said Mugsy Bogues, dude was like 4 foot tall and shit, exciting to watch though.
jomomma 01-27-2008, 03:58 AM ben wallace and ron artest as well, I could see them be gnp monsters
Shaggydoo 01-27-2008, 05:39 AM Ben Wallace for sure... Considered the strongest basketball player out there, and @ 6'9" he's built like a machine... (I dunno...Josh Howard looks STRONG as a mofo this year.)
James > Artest when it comes to all things...except fighting the crowd.
ItBurnzWhenIP 01-28-2008, 11:05 PM Artest is definately one of the toughest players in the league though. That makes for a good fighter. He won't fold like pussy Gonzaga when shit gets bumpy
ItBurnzWhenIP 01-28-2008, 11:14 PM Artest - LB James - Amare Stoudamire - Dwight Howard - Ray Lewis - - Jevon Kearse - Ronnie Lott - Adrian Peterson - T.O. and probably a whole lot more.
Oh yah Patrick Willis of the 49ers - 6'1" 242 incredible speed. Set the unofficial, all time, record for tackles in a season this year with 226. (And hes a rookie) Guy would be a beast.
prodigy 01-31-2008, 03:13 AM Floyd Mayweather
MMAsterkillah 01-31-2008, 09:42 PM Brandon Hunter, Leon Powe, Ben Wallace (Artest wanted no piece of him), Logan Mankins
blevunly 02-01-2008, 03:50 AM Jim Thorpe
Shaggydoo 02-06-2008, 12:44 AM Brandon Hunter, Leon Powe, Ben Wallace (Artest wanted no piece of him), Logan Mankins
Hell no. I don't think anyone in the NBA wants a piece of Big Ben when he gets fired up.
Axeman 02-06-2008, 04:12 AM Chuck Norris would pwn all fighters.
