I think Golota is gonna get the KO if his eye holds up. He's wearing his man down IMO

this fight was tailor-made for roy. tito is too small to fight at this weight.

Beanflicker
01-20-2008, 06:43 AM
Tito was doing pretty good early but IMO Jones has took over and is well ahead. Its not hard to see why Jones was such a great fighter. All that he's missing is his foot speed

wtf, cant see

when tarver took roy's soul, roy lost his killer instinct. he could put tito away anytime he wants but chooses not to.

Beanflicker

Man Roy could put Tito away at any time, he's happy just to score points, stay cautious and go for the decision. Thats his game, its been his game for years.

All the same, this fight was a LOT better than I thought it would be.

clean sweep for roy the 2nd half of the fight. both looked better than I thought. rjj couldve finished him after the first knockdown

Yeah its a shame he never polished him off, but in a way as a fan of Trinidad I'm glad he went the distance. I think it was a lot like when Roy fought McCallum and let him go the distance instead of polishing him off out of respect.

Still though, even at 39 Roy's speed and accuracy is freaky. The only guy who can match that kind of speed and accuracy in the sport now is Mayweather.

I wonder where he goes from here. In the same piece I read it called it a fight of has-been's yet says its roy's biggest win in yrs. kellerman mentioned his motivation

I wonder if roy cruised b/c he was worried (about gassing, getting hit) or b/c he doesnt quite want the biggest fights available to him at this point. a calzaghe fight is a promoter's dream, an undefeated english-speaking white european champ but he'd keep roy busy w/volume punching like hatton. I'm not sure roy wants that now

noway does roy want a fight with calz

I caught the highlights on the sport news last night looked like a really good fight

Roy Jones of old would have beat the shit out of Calzaghe IMO. But today's Roy would lose the UD IMO.

Theres no way Roy can just stand in front of Calzaghe, because even though Joe probably won't hurt him, he'll sure as hell keep busy and score points. The great thing about old Roy is that with his fast footwork and reflexes, he could slow fights to such a pace where he'd be the only one scoring, mostly with single potshots. A Roy Jones with no legs gets outworked and outpointed by Calzaghe IMO
