You will gain mostly fat that way, but you will probably gain the weight. Have you tried just a regular high protein diet to gain weight?

It worked for the guy from Supersize Me. I actually eat a lot of steak, pork and chicken, but I never seem to gain anything.

No, I was a fast food junkie for like ever, gained no weight from it. I weighed the same for years and years, then I quit smoking.

I had a large quarter pounder meal or large big mac meal + 20 chicken nuggets + 2 cheeseburgers + 2 apple pies and a mcflurry with an extra large fanta everyday for 3 weeks and only put on about 8lbs and it wasnt even really fat.

youre going to gain a bunch of fat in your stomach, sides, face and ass. i assume you wont be running or working out because you are trying to gain weight. i wouldnt do this diet, i would use a weight gain supplement and eat alot of meat. but if you really want to do this diet, just eat whoppers, double cheese burgers, anything breaded and fries. those will do the trick.

However much you want to weight (200 lbs) you have to eat that many grams of protein everyday.

And preferably not in the form of a saturated fecal burger from your local fast food joint.

Yuck. You are going to fuck your body up real bad bro. Just eat more stuff and drink your protein shakes and GET YOUR ASS IN THE GYM and pump some iron. Google for some stuff to eat e.g. a bodybuilders type diet eggs, meat, etc. Good Luck!

Protein, Carbs, Healthy Fats... by the mouthful...

Use an online calculator to find your estimated daily caloric needs.... then start adding calories to that... 500 to start... if you don't see the scale move add another 250... then another 250... as you gain weight you will need more calories to gain more as the more weight you have on your frame the higher number of calories your body burns through the day

I assume that you are just looking to gain weight and don't quite give a fuck how it looks on you so get a gym membership and do this... Bench Press, Leg Press, Pull Downs... 3 sets of each... Work your way up in weight... start with something you can press 8 times for 3 sets

Start on Monday, do your workout, head back Wednesday and add 5lbs to Bench Press and Pulldown and whatever amount you feel you can press on legs (could be 10lbs could be 60lbs) and repeat the same workout... rests between sets should be anywhere from 90-120 seconds... workout should take no longer than 30 minutes... most likely 25 minutes and most of that time will be spent sitting on your ass resting

Do this workout Mon-Wed-Fri... always add weight to the bar...ALWAYS... if it gets too heavy to add 5lbs... head to the hardware store and cut some chain... make sure each chain weighs 1lb... now you can up your bench press and pull downs by adding 1-4lbs... legs shouldn't be a problem as you find that adding 10lbs will feel like nothing...

If you feel sore or tired from Monday's workout, skip weds and go back Friday... If you feel like you can't possibly add weight to the bar... do 1/2 or 1/4 reps... you're not going to develop a fitness model physique... but you will gain mass quickly...

This only works if you are eating enough... and eating fast food will not help your muscles recover... eat healthy protein sources like chicken, fish, lean beef (steak, extra lean ground beef), turkey, pork (chops)... eat healthy fa sources like safflower oil and nuts... eat a lot of Pastas and Cereals (whole-wheat at least 3g of fibre per serving) and eat a bunch of fruits and veggies (the higher the fibre the better)...

Lot's of eating and heavy lifting is the key... but if you eat unhealthy you will feel fatigued and bloated and you won't be able to perform in the gym

Why do you need to gain 30lbs?

You're probably burning more calories via exercise and natural metabolism than you are taking in. Just eat 2 dozen hard boiled egg whites a day (not the yokes). Eat two every hour whether you're hungry or not.

or just eat 8 full hard boiled eggs... as the calories are the same... and 8 hard boiled eggs are usually easier to eat than 24 hard boiled egg whites...

fuck... 125lbs with 3% body... that's fucking rough... I have a couple of friends like that... dude... fuck... eat like 8 eggs for breakfast and 4 pieces of toast with a glass of juice... eat a couple burgers for lunch (at least make them flamebroiled 1/2 pounders on whole wheat buns or make your own)... eat pasta with meat sauce (chicken, turkey, or beef) for dinner... between meals eat 1/2 a cup of mixed nuts (buy your own from the bulk to save on money and sodium... buy unsalted) and drink chocolate milk... before bed have 1/2 a cup of dry curd cottage cheese with 2 cups of yogurt...

Meal 1 = 1,147 Calories
Meal 2 = 1,110 Calories
Meal 3 = 1,062 Calories
Before Bed = 502 Calories
3 Daily Snacks = 380 per meal (nuts/choc milk) 1,140 Calories
-----------------------------
Grand Total per day = 4,881 Calories
Nutritional Info = 329.51g Protein, 487g Carbs, 181g of fat, 49g of Fibre...

Stop doing the heavy bag, stop the cardio... 3 25 minute heavy weightlifting workouts a week and nothing else... if you can't gain weight with this you are screwed man... sorry to say it

Also... as you start gaining weight I recommend you start transferring some of the high protein items into high carb items as your body can only process so much protein and high protein diets have been proven to be dangerous over long periods of time...

the fat content and cholesterol in egg yolks is high but egg yolks contain the majority of nutrients the egg has to offer... egg whites have very little nutrients other than protein and some vitamins...

to compare the egg yolk to fast food is blasphemy... the fat inside a fast food burger is very much different from the fat inside an egg yolk... the egg yolk is a rich source of many important vitamins and minerals... beef used in a fast food burger is a low-grade, highly processed, ground mixture devoid of any nutritional value other than a lower than normal protein content...

I used to believe that egg whites were the way to go... but I made the switch from 8 scrambled egg whites to 4 scrambled full eggs... I feel fuller, more satsfied and generally have more energy...

I personally do not believe that eating eggs, nuts, seeds or any other food high in natural fats is bad for you, will make you sick, clog your arteries, or make you fat... it's the way you use the energy those healthy fats provide is what can lead to harm...

ok... just wondering... just eat and lift... eat and lift... if you are going to do cardio I recommend intervals as it increases endurance, speed, explosiveness but it only takes 10 minutes and uses far less calories than regular cardio...

also, make sure that if you do cardio, replenish the calories burned right after

what about funding? I assume since you said you can eat fast food daily, you can afford to eat?

8 egg yokes a day will give you a coronary. If you want all the vitaimins and minerals that a yoke can provide eat a bannana with your egg whites. I can respect your faith based belief that "the fat in eggs, nuts, seeds isn't bad for you" but I'm pretty sure people who go to medical school and become doctors would disagree with you. All fats and colesterol need to be taken in moderation no matter if it's processed trans fat or an egg yoke. Even drinking to much water is bad for you.

I would tell anyone who wants to gain good weight to just add a few dozen egg whites a week as a supplement to all the other food they eat.

maybe I'm wrong... but it's not just "faith based" belief, I've read a lot on both sides of the arguement and tend to agree more eating egg yolks... maybe I'll die at 30 from eating nuts and eggs and seeds... but I doubt it

either way, I was just offering another option that I believe will help him gain weight... he's looking at eating fast food all the time which will guarantee health problems... if he's going to eat "bad" he might as well eat eggs, at least they contain vitamins and minerals

I am by no means saying he should eat like that forever, but if he's trying to gain weight I believe eating eggs will benefit...

I understand the moderation, but what is moderation? Everything is bad for you if you consume too much, water... I don't know how much, but if you drink too much of it in one sitting it can kill you... even 2 dozen egg whites is bad for you in one sitting... at only 400 calories and 85g of protein... your body is going to have a shit of a time processing all that protein, rule of thumb being the body can process anywhere from 20-30g of protein per hour

And I was wrong... I thought the ratio was 3:1 for calories not 5:1 so I am dropping my original 8 eggs a day to 4 as the calories in 4 whole eggs is the same as 24 egg whites... either way... 4 whole eggs are a lot easier to eat a day than 24 egg whites...

When I eat great (lean protein, fruits, veggies, rice) and work out hard 4-5 days a week I'm 185. When I add pizza and chocolate and shit I gain 10 lbs right in my gut. Ideally I want to weigh 195, but I don't want the gut. I want 195 lbs of good lean muscle. 3 months ago I started supplementing EVERYTHING I eat with 2-3 hardboiled egg whites. 3 added to my breakfast, 3 to lunch, 2 after dinner. Everytime I walk by the fridge I just pop out two hardboiled egg whites. I am now 195 with no gut.

Proof is in the pudding.

I'm not saying anybody can gain 50 lbs this way, but all that good protein and lean calories added into a diet and workout helped me gain 10 good pounds.

once again you are lumping the fat from chocolate and pizza with the fat in an egg yolk... they are two COMPLETELY different types of fat... I have no doubt the pizza and chocolate goes to your gut, but this probably has little to do with the fat content anyways and more the calorie density of the foods... one slice of pizza is the equivilent of 4 eggs calorie wise and one chocolate bar is roughly 3 eggs... I'm sure you weren't just eating one slice of pizza...

no matter what you want to believe, eating fat doesn't make you fat, eating too many calories does... no matter how you slice it... you could survive on 2000 calories of pure lard and not gain a pound, but you'd be malnourished and end up sick and most likely have clogged arteries and other health problems...

what you want me to believe is that adding 120 calories a day in the form of egg whites caused you to gain 10lbs of pure muscle over 3 months... 10lbs over 3 months...

this means that:
a) you are misinformed
b) you are lying about what you were eating
c) you are genetically gifted
d) a mixture of all of the above

I choose D

there are 3,500 calories in 1lb of muscle... there is no way around it, the majority of people need to eat an excess of 3,500 calories to gain 1lb... this is usually done weekly... the best way to due it is with lean protein sources, complex carbs, and healthy fats (eggs, nuts, seeds, olive oil, fish)

120 x 90 = 10,800 calories more than you would regularily eat = roughly 3lbs weight gain

That 10,800 calories does not even come close to compensating for the 4 or 5 days of weight training you are doing which would run you a negative caloric effort of roughly 2,500 calories a week depending on length and intensity of workouts

I am not calling you a liar by any means... I just think that you are a genetically gifted individual who supplemented his meals with egg whites and also helped himself to a larger plateful without noticing it during this 3 months

It's all well and dandy that over a 3 month period you gained 10lbs from egg whites (I don't believe the egg whites had much to do with it, they helped, but they are not the be all, end all reason you gained weight) but this thread was started by a 125lb kid who wants to gain 30lbs... he clearly has a high metabolism and a tough time gaining weight... the egg white diet might even cause him to lose weight as protein burns the most calories when being digested and egg whites are considered close to a negative calorie food...

Protein helps build muscle, but complex carbs and healthy fats help gain weight... healthy fat especially (10 calories per gram of fat versus 4 calories per gram of protein and carb) as it is easier to up your calories eating a handful of nuts than it is eating a giant plate of scrambled egg whites...

I'm happy for all of your success when it comes to gaining muscle and weight with relative ease, but you egg white solution to this young mans problem will not help him gain weight...

there are 3,500 calories in 1lb of muscle... there is no way around it, the majority of people need to eat an excess of 3,500 calories to gain 1lb... this is usually done weekly... the best way to due it is with lean protein sources, complex carbs, and healthy fats (eggs, nuts, seeds, olive oil, fish)

Most of what you wrote here is based on some heavy extrapolation of my what I actually said.

For example I am well aware of the difference between "good fat and bad fat", never debated it infact (ie: peperoni pizza and egg yoke). But that doesn't change the fact, and my only real point on the issue, that eating 8 egg yokes a day is FUCKING HORRIBLE FOR YOU!!!!!!!

And, yes, you may be able to get more calories from a "handful of nuts then a plate of scrambled egg whites" (once again, I never debated this)- but I was talking about SUPPLEMENTING AN EXISTING DIET WITH MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF CLEAN PROTIEN to aid in muscle growth and hence weight- not simply adding calories full of fat and oil as the TS suggested with his "fast food diet"- or you with your 8 egg yokes a day. Fact: egg whites are the cleanest source of protein in the world. If you're trying to equal the amount of protein I can get in 5 days from 12 eggs by eating nuts and seeds you'd have to eat all the nuts in a grove. And you'd be taking in so much oil and fat you'd have anal leakage for a day.

I think we can agree that if either of us want to provide real suggestions for the TS to gain 30 pounds on his 125 lb frame, we'd need a pretty detailed chart of his current eating habits/nutition level plus his age and exercise regiment to even begin.

BTW 8 egg yokes a day will clog an artery.

your 2nd post in this thread said he should eat a few dozen egg whites a day... that being said... 2 dozen egg whites a week is 400 calories... that is not nearly enough extra calories a week for somebody to gain weight.... it is recommended to have 500 extra calories a day just to add one pound a week of muscle...

A standard egg white contains 47 calories and 10 grams of protein. I buy extra large (Organic for the record). They are listed at 65 calories (the white, not the whole egg). (based on your numbers above you are saying each egg white has 17 calories HAHAHAHAHA!!!! WTF? You got that from Diet Bites didn't you LOL!!!!)

65 calories x 12 eggs = 780 calories of pure fucking protein in one dozen (78 grams of protein). If I eat 2 dozen every 5 days I am taking in an EXTRA 1560 calories of pure protein (that's 312 calories EXTRA of protein every day). For 90 days. As a SUPPLEMENT to an already healthy calorie filled diet.

And I gained 10 lbs of pure lean muscle.

yes... i got that from Diet Bites.. (wtf is Diet Bites)

Ok... your numbers are wrong. You insulted me, that's ok, you thought you were right, you aren't.

By your numbers, you would be consuming 195g of protein in the form of 780 calories. Let me tell you why, ONE GRAM OF PROTEIN CONTAIN 4 CALORIES IT IS SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN THAT ONE GRAM OF PROTEIN CONTAIN 4 CALORIES.

Therefore, 78g of protein = 312 calories... do the math man. There is no way around it.

Come on man... if you are going to insult me, at least do some research first... fuck...

oh... and I did a search for diet bites and found what you were talking about... why would I be ahsamed if I got my info from there, or any other website, Egg Whites have anywhere from 15-20 calories from one large egg... it's common knowledge...

And before you jump on it... I know that your EXTRA LARGE Eggs have at least 26 calories... but we are dealing with standard sized eggs like you said, and they have 15-20 calories...

fuck man, idk what to say anymore... I'd really like to know where you got the magical number of 47

The white of a large egg, or about 1-1/4 ounces, has 16 calories, 3 g of protein, 2 mg of calcium, 4 mg of phosphorus, 55 mg of sodium, 45 mg of potassium, the weensiest little bit of riboflavin, and no fat, cholesterol, or carbohydrates.

The yolk of that egg weighs about 2/3 of an ounce, and has 59 calories, 3 g of protein, 5 g of fat (2 of which are saturated), 212 mg of cholesterol, 23 mg of calcium, 81 mg of phosphorus, 7 mg of sodium, 16 mg of potassium, very small amounts of iron, thiamin, and riboflavin, and no carbohydrates.
