anyone train with cesar up in nor cal?

i hear that those guys take it as a sign of disrespect to walk in with a colored belt. aparently they feel that unless cesar gives you a blue or a purple that that you should be a white?

anyone think that is very asinine? do they think their shit don't stink?

javi is a friend of cesar and i know that cesar himself does not think like that i think it is more like his students who feel this way. whetever though if i were to go up there and put on a white belt i would see it as me being very disrespectful to javi who gave me my blue. that would be like saying "well i'm good enough to be a javier vasquez blue belt but not a cesar gracie one so i'll just put on a white belt."

am i crazy or does that attitude that the cesar guys have stupid?

If you walked in with a white belt, it would also look like you were sandbagging his class. lol

i think if the belt came from a legit instructor (as yours did) then you have every right to go in there with it, but it would be kinda cool and funny to go in there as a wild card wearing your white belt and then shock the hell outta people when you start subbing blues

Wear a rainbow belt and tap everyone out. That would be better than the white belt idea above IMO. Or a rope belt.

Put on your nice dockers belt that you got from JC pennys for 20 bucks.

i trained up there i owned everyone except the brown belt who took 3rd at the no gi worlds but i gave him a hell of a match, i even passed his guard and almost hit a clock choke on him, then he got alf guard and swept me and passed and got an armbar, but he only caught me once in ten minutes so i did fairly well i think

the guys were cool, not a dick in the bunch except for one dude who was smarting off to my gf who has a blue belt, the guy was a white and he beat her but, he was a sandbagging white when i rolled with him i felt he was really good, but i still beat him, he swept me with an oomoplata but i swept him back and sunk a side choke... good times great place to train and tough dudes

go in with the blue i would be pissed if i rolled a guy thinking he was a white and got spanked. one time the judo black belt/ bjj blue belt came it wore a white belt. and when i rolled him he gave me the hardest time. i didnt get subed but he killed me possition wise and im the best white at my school so i was like wtf why is this guy good. so dont be that guy and wear your blue.

I dont know that you would own anyone there. Did you train in Pleasant Hill?? Cus that's where Cesar's main school is at. That's where i train and i dont remember you... BTW no one freaks out if you walk in there with a colored belt, just be prepared to show the skills

true but for competitions i think they help, for example i wish i could wrestle guys who are at my level and my age, but i can;t cause to only people who compete at my age who are not in college are elite guys

i think the belts are good, but they are not the be-all-end-all of how good you are

i think royce said, "the belt only covers two inches of your ass, the rest is up to you"

OH!!!! Antioch that's the newer school. Mostly whitebelts like you said. Who was the brown belt? was his name George or was it Monte because those are Cesar's only brownbelts besides Jake Shields. hit me up w/ a PM though if you're in town.

true to an extent. i mean at my club i havent put the mat time in so im not a blue but aside from one blue belt and the purple belt i beat or tie all the blues due to my style. i am small and have a good guard how ever i dont have a good enough well rounded game and the other aspects of my game are not up to par. now i beat them because of what im good at but if i had to switch my game up i would be beaten. also its kind of like showing that you put your dues in.
