Sad stuff and definitely tons of potential ramifications in world politics.

ISI main suspect in Bhutto's killing

Pakistan’s powerful Inter-Services Intelligence agency and Islamist militants are the main suspects in the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto, British media reported on Friday.

“The foreign and Pakistani Islamist militants saw Bhutto as a Westernised heretic and an American stooge and had repeatedly threatened to kill her.

“But fingers will also be pointed at the ISI which has had close ties to the Islamists since the 1970s and has been used by successive Pakistani leaders to suppress political opposition,” The Times of London reported.

Bhutto narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in October when a suicide bomber struck at a rally in Karachi to welcome her back after eight years in exile.

Bhutto had said after the attack that she had received a letter signed by someone claiming to be a friend of al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, threatening to slaughter her like a goat.

Earlier in October, two Pakistani militant warlords based in the country’s northwestern areas had threatened to kill her. One was Baitullah Mehsud, a top militant commander fighting the Pakistani Army in South Waziristan, who has ties to al Qaeda and the Afghan Taliban.

The other was Haji Omar, the leader of the Pakistani Taliban, who is also from South Waziristan and fought with the Afghan Mujahidin against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

But she also accused Pakistani authorities of not providing her with sufficient security, and hinted that they may have been complicit in the Karachi attack.

Bhutto indicated that she had more to fear from unidentified members of a power structure that she described as allies of the forces of militancy.

Quoting analysts, the report said President Pervez Musharraf [Images] is unlikely to have ordered her assassination, but that elements of the army and intelligence service stood to lose money and power if she became prime minister.

The ISI includes some Islamists who became radicalised while running the American-funded campaign against the Soviets in Afghanistan and were opposed to her on principle.

Saudi Arabia is also thought to have frowned on Bhutto as being too secular and Westernised and to have favoured another former premier Nawaz Sharif.

CNN airs mysterious 'Divide Pakistan' advertisements
11 Mar 2007, 1215 hrs IST,CHIDANAND RAJGHATTA,TNN

WASHINGTON: While Pakistan has charged India with stoking fires in its troubled provinces and produced articles in a Sindhi journal published from New Delhi as 'evidence,' it can drum up far more serious charges against its patron United States.

A maverick 'academic' based in Europe has been buying airtime on CNN for the past two weeks to advertise his book titled Divide Pakistan to Eliminate Terrorism . The 15-second spot, which is aired every day, charges Pakistan with terrorist activities across the world and says the only way to stop this is to split the country into half dozen separate entities, including Sindhudesh, Jinnahpur, Balochistan and Pakhtunistan.

The author of the book, which is being sold on Amazon.com for $ 15.95, is Syed Jamaluddin, who describes himself in a blog ( www.dividepakistan.blogspot.com ) as a British Citizen- Naturalized in UK and a chartered accountant with a degree in conflict management.

On Amazon, he is described as ''an active writer on issues concerning Pakistan’s involvement in various terrorist activities in the South Asian region'' who was ''forced to leave Pakistan after the military coup of General Musharraf in 1999.'' It says he also ''liaised with political and religious parties of Pakistan as well as Government Agencies.''

Washington’s think-tank circuit, where Pakistani scholars and commentators are frequent visitors, has no idea who Syed Jamaluddin is. The conjecture is he is a disgruntled spook out to embarrass a country that is already in a deep hole in the US where it is seen the grand central -- if not a sponsor -- of terrorism in most quarters, except by administration officials tasked with bringing it to heel with kid gloves.

Indian officials too said they had no idea of the book or the author. One official visiting from New Delhi, when told about the ad, joked that dividing Pakistan was a terrible idea, saying, ''One is bad enough -- who wants to deal with four or five?''

According to the jacket notes for the book on Amazon, Divide Pakistan to Eliminate Terrorism is ''Syed Jamaluddin's vision to address issues related to combating terrorism emanating from Pakistan which have dramatically transformed the entire region into a systematically controlled network having vicious effects to the global peace.''

This book, it says, gives an in depth analysis about the role of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Tablighi Jamat which are involved in producing future terrorists. The book also claims to provide ''specific information about the actual tactics of ISI and Tablighi Jamat and their strategy to disrupt the international peace in the name of Islamisation of the world through holy war and martyrdom.''

Jamaluddin, who declares General Musharraf as a ''Terrorist-in-Uniform'' has also been circulating an online petition calling for the division of Pakistan.

Pakistani diplomats in the U.S, who toil ceaselessly to counter critical newspaper editorials by writing plaintive letters to editors, seem to be stumped by the ad, which usually airs in the morning. A 30-second prime time spot on CNN can cost as much as $ 20,000.

Considering the ad has now been airing for a fortnight, profiting from the book seems farthest from the mysterious Syed Jamaluddin’s mind.

SYED JAMALUDDIN'S PREDICTION COMES TRUE

Syed Jamaluddin had predicted assassination of Benazir Bhutto in his article of November 20, 2007 posted on this blog. In his article, Syed Jamaluddin had advised Benazir Bhutto not to waste time in waiting for restoration of democracy and rather concentrate on disintegration of Pakistan. Syed Jamaluddin had suggested that Benazir Bhutto should become prime minister of Peoples Republic of Sindhudesh instead of Pakistan. Syed Jamaluddin condemns assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

Benazir Bhutto shall be the Prime Minister in the year 2008. If not of Pakistan, then, of Peoples’ Republic of Sindhudesh

by Syed Jamaluddin

Time has finally come for Pakistan’s disintegration as the judicial downfall in the country has exposed the reality of Pakistan’s artificial existence through funding by American intelligence agencies in order to keep physical control of the region to fulfil their own evil designs. It was due to this reason that democracy in Pakistan has always miserably failed. Sometimes, this democracy was destroyed on allegation of corruption, sometimes on account of confrontation by the ruling party with the neighbouring India, sometimes on account of “removal” of chief of army staff. Hence, the country called Pakistan has always been a “colony” of a typical nature where there has been no rule of law or proper judicial system. Even recently when there was some hope of media freedom to gain momentum, this freedom was also taken away and Pakistani media was sent 50 years back. Similarly, favourite judges were planted in the country’s Supreme Court with a glaring motive to hijack entire judicial system of the country. Moreover, journalists have been persecuted and being tortured to prevent free reporting about the rulers’ attempt to convert the country into a jungle.

Under such circumstances, it is important to note that Pakistan’s military dictatorship which is basically Punjab’s military dictatorship is not ready to leave power or organize free and fair elections. It is to be understood that Punjab’s military dictatorship shall not allow genuine democratic forces to takeover the country and thus are engaged in activities of Fascism in order to make sure that their rule remains intact indefinitely. This is certain that military dictatorship is not ready or willing to give up. Of course they would never agree to allow the democratic forces of the country to become rulers of Pakistan. It is nothing but a dream to think about restoration of genuine democracy in Pakistan.

So, what is to be done now? Should the politicians wait for another 5 years in order to allow the military dictators to become more powerful, richer, stronger and brutal? Indeed not.

It is necessary that political leaders of NWFP, Balochistan, Sindh and Karachi should get up and decide disintegration of Pakistan under the supervision of the United Nations. In my opinion, following new countries should be formed immediately:

REPUBLIC OF PAKHTOONISTAN
REPUBLIC OF BALOCHISTAN
PEOPLES’ REPUBLIC OF SINDHUDESH
REPUBLIC OF JINNAHPUR

All political leaders of prominent political parties in the provinces of NWFP, Balochistan, Sindh and Karachi should sit down together in London and unanimously request the United Nations to disintegrate Pakistan as per the will of people living in these provinces.

Benazir Bhutto being the most credible political leader should lead this program and facilitate formation of a pressure group called MOVEMENT TO DIVIDE PAKISTAN (MDP). The pressure group should meet the Secretary General of the United Nations and most influential American senators along with members of the European Union Parliament. The basic objective of this pressure group should be to ensure that Pakistan is divided peacefully under the supervision of the United Nations and EU so as to provide freedom to the people living in NWFP, Balochistan, Sindh and Karachi. Freedom from Punjab’s brutal military dictatorship will allow these new countries to prosper and provide best standard of living to their people.

Once these new countries are formed, they can form a coalition to put pressure on Punjabistan in order to destroy Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). It would be very essential to dismantle nuclear weapons of Punjabistan as soon as possible so as to keep the balance of power in the region very stable. Republic of Balochistan and Peoples’ Republic of Sindhudesh should then allow USA to install their proper army bases on their lands and allow American army to keep their ground forces in the region for a longer period until Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) belonging to Punjabistan are fully destroyed. This will also eliminate terrorism network which is being nourished under the safe umbrella of Punjab’s military dictatorship and its evil organization called Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Benazir Bhutto should not think that the above plan is out of question. She must realize that the Punjab’s military dictatorship has already decided to eliminate all political forces from Pakistan. She is getting older and therefore she has a responsibility to do something of long term nature for the people of NWFP, Balochistan, Sindh and Karachi. She should not ignore her responsibility as daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had saved West Pakistan by accepting the separatist ambitions of Bengalis. Now is the time for the daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to give freedom to the people of West Pakistan who are looking at her for justice and freedom. Now, Benazir is herself people’s Supreme Court. Now Benazir is herself people’s parliament. Now Benazir is herself a symbol of free media. Now Benazir is herself last hope of the people of West Pakistan.

If Benazir Bhutto does not act now in hope of any restoration of democracy, it is possible that she would be assassinated by the Punjabi military dictatorship in order to clear the path for their longer power. She should not forget that her father was also murdered by a military dictator. She should not make the same mistake. She should act fast. If she dies, there is nobody to take her place for next 100 years.

I, therefore, request Benazir Bhutto to avoid wastage of time and act now to get the real solution. The real solution is disintegration of Pakistan. If not, people will continue to be persecuted, judicial system will remain under siege, media shall be destroyed, small provinces other shall be undermined.

Bin Laden calls on Pakistanis to rebel against Musharraf

Video: Bin Laden encourages Pakistanis to revolt

Osama Bin Laden called on Pakistanis to rise up against President Perez Musharraf in a video released Thursday.

In the video, the terror kingpin said Musharraf was an infidel because in July his military stormed an Islamabad mosque where militants were holed up.

The attack on the Red Mosque "demonstrated Musharraf's insistence on continuing his loyalty, submissiveness and aid to America against the Muslims...and makes armed rebellion against him and removing him obligatory," Bin Laden said in the message, which was posted on militant Islamic Web sites.
"So when the capability is there, it is obligatory to rebel against the apostate ruler, as is the case now," he said, according to a translation released by U.S. terrorism experts.

Musharraf, a close U.S. ally on the war on terror, will seek new five-year term in the Oct. 6 presidential elections despite a steep drop in his popularity. The head of the powerful military, he originally seized power in a 1999 coup.

In the video, Bin Laden's voice is heard with video from previously released footage of the Al Qaeda leader. New images of Bin Laden were last seen in a tape released just before the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

In that video, Bin Laden’s graying beared had been dyed jet black, suggesting he still has plenty of time for personal grooming, despite being the world's most wanted man.

Bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman Al-Zawahiri, who released his own video condeming the Pakistani president Thursday, are both believed to be living in Pakistan, in the rugged tribal region near the Afghan border.

Qaeda link to Bhutto killing denied !!

The commander of a pro-Taliban group in Pakistan has told news agencies by phone that Baitullah Mehsud, another pro-Taliban figure, denies any involvement in Benazir Bhutto's death.

Maulana Omar said on Saturday: "He [Mehsud] had no involvement in this attack. This is a conspiracy of the government, army and intelligence agencies."

A Pakistani official had said on Friday it had evidence that Mehsud was responsible for the death of Bhutto, a former prime minister.

Javed Cheema, an interior ministry spokesman, said: "We have intelligence intercepts indicating that al-Qaeda leader Baitullah Mehsud is behind her assassination."

The claim was made as Bhutto was buried in her ancestral village in the province of Sindh against a backdrop of continued violence, with the death toll from disturbances rising to 31.

Cheema also said Bhutto died from injuries caused by hitting her head on her car's sunroof as she came under fire, rather than from bullet wounds or shrapnel.

Contrary account

Contradicting the official account, a close Bhutto aide told the media on Saturday that she saw a bullet wound in the head when she bathed Bhutto's body after her assassination.

"I was actually part of the party which bathed her body before the funeral," said Sherry Rehman, who served as Bhutto's spokeswoman and who was in the motorcade at the time of the attack.

"There was a bullet wound I saw that went in from the back of her head and came out the other side.

"We could not even wash her properly because the wound was still seeping. She lost a huge amount of blood."

Rehman said: "The hospital was made to change its statement. They never gave a proper report. ...

"This is ridiculous, dangerous nonsense because it is a cover-up of what actually happened."

Earlier reports said Bhutto was gunned down by an assassin.

The assassin then blew himself up in an attack that killed a total of 16 people at the end of an election campaign rally in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

While pointing the finger at al-Qaeda, Cheema said Mehsud was also behind a suicide attack on a Bhutto rally in October that left 140 dead.

Pakistani authorities say Mehsud is based in the tribal region of South Waziristan.

'Pack of lies'

Cheema's claim that Bhutto's death was not caused by bullet wounds but by head injuries was described as "a pack of lies" by an aide of the slain politician.

Farooq Naik, a senior official in Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party (PPP), said: "Two bullets hit her, one in the abdomen and one in the head.

"It is an irreparable loss and they are turning it into a joke with such claims. The country is heading towards civil war."

Farhatullah Babar, a another PPP spokesman, said on Saturday: "The story that al-Qaida or Baitullah Mehsud did it appears to us to be a planted story, an incorrect story, because they want to divert the attention."

He said Bhutto had earlier told the government of "elements" other than al-Qaida that she thought could be a threat to her, but officials never investigated.

Kamal Hyder, Al Jazeera's Pakistan correspondent, said people were asking why the car in which Bhutto was travelling was not damaged by the fatal attack.

"A lot of people in Pakistan believe there may be some kind of conspiracy behind the assassination," he said.

Questions have also been raised as to why the scene of the attack that killed Bhutto was hosed down by the authorities soon after the blast, a move that may have destroyed valuable evidence.

Earlier on Friday, hundreds of thousands of mourners gathered for Bhutto's funeral in front of the mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, a village 5km from the Bhutto home in the town of Naudero in Larkana district.

Grieving supporters

Supporters arrived by tractors, buses, cars and jeeps that were parked in dusty fields surrounding the mausoleum - a vast, marble structure.

Weeping in grief and chanting slogans against figures in the pro-government political party, they formed into hundreds of rows for the funeral prayers.

Asif Ali Zardari, Bhutto's husband, accompanied the closed coffin draped with the PPP's green, red and black tricolour as it began the 7km journey by ambulance.

Some protesters chanted defiance: "No matter how many Bhuttos you will kill, a Bhutto will emerge from each house."

Bhutto had returned to Pakistan from Dubai in October, ending more than eight years of self-imposed exile after reaching an understanding with Pervez Musharraf, the Pakistan president.

The 54-year-old Bhutto had been hoping to lead the PPP to victory in the January 8 parliamentary election, having been prime minister twice before.

She survived a suicide-bomb attack during her homecoming procession in Karachi that left about 140 supporters dead.

I donno much about her but she was twice granted amnesty for corruption charges levelled against her. Nevertheless she was a much sought after leader in pak and its really tough time for pak. The ramifications it'd have on India and US will be far reaching. I'm really interested to know hoiw US would react. Nawaz Sharif is only political power centre IMO. Imran Khan couldve been more prominent figure if he hadnt chosen to boycott the elections.

CFR Favored Bhutto

Kurt Nimmo
Truth News
December 30, 2007

The Council on Foreign Relations favored the corrupt would-be leader, Benazir Bhutto, over the brutal dictator, Pervez Musharraf, and her assassination was somewhat of a set-back. As should be expected, the CFR recommends sticking its nose — or rather, the nose of the American people — into the political trap of Pakistan.

According to CFR Senior Fellow Daniel Markey, the “choices open to Washington” include “working with the army and civilian political leaders to manage the removal of President Musharraf,” in other words, for the globalists at the CFR, sinking deeper into the muck is always an option and apparently the preferred option.

Recall the CFR held a “special meeting” back in August to host Bhutto and let her expound about “democracy,” that is to say allow her to wax philosophic on the reinstallation of her kleptocracy.

Back in 2003, a Swiss court convicted Bhutto and her husband, Asif Zardari, of money laundering millions, imposed a “six-month suspended jail term, fined them $50,000 each and ordered they pay more than $2m to the Pakistani Government,” according to the BBC. Judge Daniel Devaud in Geneva “said they had illegally deposited millions of dollars in accounts in Switzerland, and ordered the money be returned to Pakistan.”

“In 1998, Swiss authorities said they found about $13.8 million in Swiss accounts belonging to Bhutto and her family,” reports the San Francisco Chronicle. “Swiss and Pakistani investigators allege much of the money came from Societe Generale de Surveillance, one of the world’s largest customs inspection companies, in exchange for business with the Pakistani government when Bhutto was prime minister in the late 1980s and 1990s.”

As should be expected, these charges of corruption and others in Spain fizzled out. Bhutto was a favored daughter. “General Pervez Musharraf has given Bhutto immunity from prosecution over myriad charges of corruption,” writes Guy Rundle for Crikey. “At the same time he has detained a whole range of alternative opposition leaders from former chief justice Chaudry and hundreds of lawyers, to former cricketer and political leader Imran Khan. Some would suggest he already has a deal that Bhutto will win the election and then grant sinecures to Musharraf and his cronies.”

Obviously, Bhutto was being groomed for a return, as the heavy-handed Musharraf was an embarrassment for the one-worlders. But somebody in Pakistan disagreed, so they killed the convicted criminal Bhutto.

It’s business as usual in the New World Order, as ruthless mobsters jockey for power.

Now the CFR and crew will have to find a new minion to replace the stained Musharraf.
