My uncle came back from a business trip from Thailand where he bought a modded Wii which plays burned wii games. If anyone knows how to do this. Please help~!

Nope, uses dvd's and can also play gamecube backups on dvd, but firmware updates can brick your system, very risky. You have to use GC homebrew on a flash disk to hack the system.
