God damn Detroit Tigers, look the fuck out American League you got another team to deal with now. I may have to start cheering for the home team now.

+1... Dontrelle and his 5.50 ERA isn't really much of a threat. Cabrera is definitely awesome, but can he stay in shape?

Will the Sox end up with Santana to make a sick 4 man rotation of Beckett, Santana, Schilling and Dice-K? The 5th starter could be me and they'd still have a beautiful staff full of aces.

Fuck baseball, but if it's gonna be on TV all the time, mine as well have your home team be the best. GO SOX!

yeah I do agree, Fuck Baseball, prolly the most boring sport to watch on TV, but Dontrelle will get back to his younger days, he will throw the cover off that baseball this year. that Tiger lineup is looking an awful alot like those lineup's in New York and Boston, very tough to pitch against.

wow, why all the hate toward the Yankees ???

I used to be a Red Sox fan, but I am sick of them as well as the whole rivalry. Now, I like the Colorado Rockies. They are winning it all next year.

I understand what you are saying, I'm a die hard Yankee fan since 1970, I do not like the direction they are going. I will always be a fan but I think I will be cheering for the Tigers see in how they are only 45 minutes north from where i live.

I'm a strong believer in the fact that a solid leadoff hitter is more important to this club than another great arm would be. I've even mentioned to my friends that I'd be more open to trading Buchholz than I would Ellsbury in a Santana deal.

P.S. It's weird being on the same side as you in something. I guess I have to rep you for that lol.

lol, they've been saying lester is part of a deal. i'd rather lose lester than buchholz. but i don't want ellsbury to go anywhere. that kid looks like he could be a solid player for many moons to come.

It almost isn't even worth mentioning to say you'd rather trade Lester than Buchholz. That's obvious.. i was more saying it to express just how much I value Jacoby, and the dynamic he brings to the club.

YES!!! gagne signed with the brewers

Yeah... 10 million for 1 year with the chance of it being 11 with incentives. Insane.

Thanks for the draftpick Gagne, you useless bastard. Unless the kid we get in the draft turns out to be a stud, it's pretty safe to say hindsight lets us know we got raped in that deal.

They got raped even without losing the draft pick. Gabbard is a decent lefty starter and the other OF was hitting like .400 with the Rangers.

Imagining that he actually played, just consistently to how he'd played in Texas this year, it would have been an excellent trade. David Murphy tops out as a 4th outfielder, and Kason Gabbard is about as much of a sell high canidate as there is. The best property in that trade was Engel Beltre, who is 18 years old and could either come back to make the trade look just terrible, or never amount to anything.

Trust me, David Murphy and Kason Gabbard are no skin off the Red Sox back. The reason I mentioned the pick is because there is a VERY good likelyhood that whomever is taken there, will be a much better prospect than either. (then again he could also turn into a first round pick like.... David Murphy...)

Sadly Gagne didn't come off of this trade as a valuable property in the least bit. I personally hope his arm falls off, but at least there is hope for the pick.

I just realized what you just said... They didn't lose a draftpick, they GAINED a draftpick by Gagne signing with Milwaukee.

My mistake. I am always thinking about how the Red Sox lose draft picks by signing guys like Nancy Drew and Julio Loogie.

D.O.
12-10-2007, 11:56 PM
They only lost a pick for Lugo. Drew didn't cost them a pick because of his opting out of his deal.

Actually the Sox have been huge benefactors of the compensatory draft system in recent years.

Jacoby Ellsbury & Jed Lowrie via Orlando Cabrera
Clay Buchholz via Pedro Martinez
Craig Hansen & Michael Bowden via Derek Lowe
Matt Murton (traded to CHC) via Cliff Floyd

That's about the opposite of how it should feel.

1. I'd bet anything his name is in the Mitchell Report coming out tomorrow.

2. That team is going nowhere, fast. They need to build through youth. Troy Patton is a real nice prospect.

The Orioles got the #2 and 3 ranked prospects in the Astros organization in the trade and they probably wanted to dump Tejada since he might be in the Mitchell Report.

Patton is the only prospect in that trade that ranks in the top 10 according to baseball america.

Rockies sign Luis Vizcaino, so they basically swapped crappy relievers with the Stankees.
