Has anybody seen this? I think it actually just came out today on DVD, I just watched it at my work and it is hilarious. It is a completely retarded and completely goofy movie, but it is fucking awesome. I thought I would mention it because I didn't think too many people would have heard of it.

I hear ya... I watched both and have to say that they equally rank up there as some of my favorite comedies for many different reasons...

If you want to die laughing I recommend waiting until December 15? and rent Superbad and Hot Rod together for a double dose of hilarity

Nah, it is not like Napolean Dynamite at all, the comedy in Hot Rod is way less subtle and more in your face.

Wow someone actually liked this movie. I thought it was the worst movie I have seen this year and thats saying a lot considering how often I watch movies. The movie was in the same vein of Napolean Dynamite which is another extremely bad movie. Isla Fisher is indeed smoking though!

I loved both films and really do not see the similarities in them at all... other than the dorky guy lead character maybe... and that they are both idiots...

When I said that they were similar I was referring to the fact that the main characters were both idiots and neither movie had much of a consistent plot. I really don't enjoy idiotic comedies so that is probably my main reason for hating those movies. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear the first time about the similarities.

Yeah... the first time I watched it I was kind alike... wtf all the way through, then he danced and I laughed and I watched it again and really enjoyed it.. I've seen it quite a few times now and enjoy it immensley

true... I agree that the movies are similar based on the idiotic main characters and the lacking of any such direction plotwise... that being said... sometimes I like to shut my mind off and enjoy stupid comedies and these two really made me laugh....

when it comes to comedies it's movies like Good Luck Chuck and to some extent I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry that really piss me off...

Good Luck Chuck is a dreadful attempt to make money off the success of an unfunny comedian and some hot chick who can't acts vagina...

Chuck and Larry is a hugely hyped film that is filled with shit jokes... I warmed up to it as it strayed away from the childish humor that the first 45 minutes is comprised of but it's still just another cash grabber in my eyes...

But both films have a highly recognizable cast and were hyped up as smash hits when in reality they were just thrown together over a weekend to make some money without really caring about the kind of shit they were throwing at us...

I'll take a low budget, plotless comedy over a huge budget shit fest any day... but that's just me

Comedy wise I generally enjoy the smarter comedies opposed to the pointless drivel. I think the Judd Apatow crop of comedies are very crude but have unique concepts and plot devices. He is the best comedy writer in the past 10 years.

I love dumb comedies, but I also like dark comedies and other more unique comedies. Christopher Guest movies are some good ones I can think of.
