awesome movie. I cant decide if it makes me happy that I am in the position that I am..or if it depresses me to know that some people really get that bad

Very good movie, but I don't like watching it that often for reasons mentioned above. Jennifer Connely is banging for a heroin addict :hitit:

Great film.

Hell yeah its depressing and the ending is dark, but it had to be depressing and dark for the themes to fully work.

You guys ever see Spun? It's a rip-off of Requiem but about meth and with Jason Schwartzman. They even try to rip-off the drug doing montages that were so awesome in requiem.

Holy fuck. So all action movies are ripped off from the original, first ever "action movie" then? It's a drug movie that moves in a different direction. Requiem showcases the horror of drug use while Spun has more of a comedic look at it. Also completely separate stories, pacing, and general feel, soundtrack and setup. Requiem is slower and builds where as Spun is quick and jumpy. Requiem focuses on 4 lives and how drug affects them, while connecting them all together while Spun basically focuses on Swartzman's and Rourke's characters while briefly wrapping up the other minor characters quickly at the end.

I guess you could say that the montage fast reeling clip of the drug use are similar and therefore a "rip off" but its a movie technique that best showcases drug use and once somehow introduces a technique into the movie industry that is effective, others will use it as well. You could say that George Lucas and Star Wars ripped off Stanely Kubrick and 2001: A Space Odyssee but nobody does because they are completely different movies released in different years and weren't about the same subject(even though they are about space) or meant to steal one another's thunder.

haha. i'll rep that good sir.

I went on a rant there I'll admit. It's just that I read that before about people saying they were ripping each other off but then I watched Spun and I realized they were incorrect for the reasons I previously stated. I think the main reason people think Spun is a ripoff is because of the drug montage clip.

I dunno, that was just the impression I got when I was watching the film. Maybe I wasn't giving it it's fair shake the first time I watched it.
