In a move sure to send boxing fans over the edge with glee, WBC International Super Featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao, fresh off his hum-drum unanimous decision victory over a listless Marco Antonio Barrera this past Saturday night, landed back home in the Philippines, and promptly called out slugging WBA Jr. Lightweight champion Edwin Valero, telling AFP that the unbeaten KO artist was the only person in the division who has a chance of beating him.

"For that reason I might stay in the 130 pound division, so he (Valero) can prove he can beat me," Pacquiao said, referring to his desire to move up to 135 lbs, after struggling to make weight for the Barrera fight.

Pacquiao also mentioned reigning WBC Super Featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez as another possibility - the two battled to a heated draw in May of 2004 - but said that the Mexican is pricing himself out of consideration.

Pacs record: 45 W (35 KO) 3L - 2 Draws
Valeros record: 22 W (22 KO) all but 3 coming in the first round and another coming in round 2

Manny has enormous balls for such a little dude.

Edwin Valero hasn't fought a formidable opponent in his career except for the one with Vicente Mosquera of Panama wherein he won the WBA SuperFeatherweight title a few months ago with a 10th round stoppage.

That fight wasn't a few months ago, it was over a year ago.
But in that fight he showed he had heart and determination. Mosquera knocked him down and almost took him out, but he showed he could take a punch and he showed he had the heart to get off the canvas and come back and win. He also showed that he had the stamina and he carried his power into the later rounds. So where I don't think he is as technically sound as Pacman, he definatly provides a very interesting challenge for him.

Well said... Mosquera is damn sure no can either... Beating him with a 10th Round TKO is a solid accomplishment and boxing Manny is a viable option for 1 guy only in JMM. Nobody else is gonna survive that way. We've never seen somebody charge headlong at Manny... And we've damn sure never seen somebody do that who actually hits harder than the Pacman. Definately interesting fight.
