Hi,

I competed at GQ's north jersey event yesterday and had a really good time. I only had one match (I was in two divisions, Blue belt and advanced no gi, but both divisions were going simultaneously and I could only pick one) against a Black belt from Rio, which I lost by points, 6-4

I was happy with my match and felt like I fought well, but my rib popped as soon as I tried to finish the first heel hook and I couldn't move much after that. Anyway, I figured I would contribute since everyone else is always posting stuff. I'm the guy in the rashguard, by the way:

Wow! I didn't know you were that good.

Repped for attacking that black belt like you did.

Dod you guys focus on those leg attacks at your gym?

Who's your teacher?

That stuff looked cool. I haven't yet learned any of that. Cool option to have.

Hi TBA,
Thanks for the kind words!

I've been focusing on leg attacks alot lately with my training partners. There are a lot of guys at my school that are great with leg attacks, which is good for me because I've still got lots of work to do! In regular classes, they are covered fairly often, but not all the time.

My teachers are Phil and Rick Migliarese, Black belts under Relson Gracie. They both own Balance studios in Philadelphia. It's an awesome place and everyone is really friendly. Feel free to give a call and drop by if you are ever in the area! We are always happy to meet other people into grappling and martial arts!

wow man excellent job! if you would have got your hooks in you would have won that match man...if you practice shooting off your butt and arms quicker you will get those sweeps with no problem! just keep practicing it... those will certainly help you with sweeping your opponent from half guard nice fucking job rep.

Good stuff. I definitely need more work on a lot of that stuff. I was having a rough time with getting that hook in because of the popped rib ( the dude was tough as shit also, lol) . I'm glad you guys are pointing stuff out , it's good for me to get different perspectives and fresh eyes on the match. Thanks guys!
