View Full Version : Dolph ko'ing Stallone?
knockkraut 09-26-2007, 04:30 PM Hey 'bros, I was at the dojo, telling a buddy about the time "Judo" Gene Labell(sp?) choked out Segal on the set of a movie. He responded with a story about Dolph Lundgren(sp?) and Stallone. The story goes like this:
On the set of Rocky IV, while they were filming the fight scene between Drago and Rocky, Stallone was reviewing tape of the scene. Take after take, Stallone doesn't feel like the action looks real enough. So, Sly approaches Dolph and says, "I'm a pretty tough guy, how bout you try just hitting me for real?". Now Dolph, who was apparently a real kickboxer of some renown, tries to talk him out of it, but Stallone pushes for it. So, in the next take, Dolph hits him with a right straight, puts Stallone out for 3 minutes. They apparently actually used the shot in the film too.
I was just wondering if any of you guys had heard this story too, or heard anything about Dolph as a kickboxer.

Squirrel 09-26-2007, 05:53 PM I thought Stallone got rocked during the filming of the last Rocky movie as well.
Beanflicker 09-26-2007, 06:38 PM Wouldn't surprise me, we all know the story about Shavers and Stallone. Old Sly seems to have a lot more guts than brains.
Beanflicker 09-26-2007, 06:39 PM I thought Stallone got rocked during the filming of the last Rocky movie as well.
He was getting Tarver to make real contact, I'd say he got rocked more than once.
knockkraut 09-26-2007, 07:03 PM What's the story about Shavers and Stallone?
jetjaguar 09-26-2007, 07:47 PM saw him demo at a kyokushinkai(?) exibition, he broke a cinder block with his head
Beanflicker 09-26-2007, 07:57 PM What's the story about Shavers and Stallone?
Shavers (maybe THE hardest puncher of all time for those not familiar with him) auditioned for the role of Clubber Lang. They were sparring and Shavers was understandibly going easy on Stallone and not really hitting him. Stallone goated him on and told him to really hit him, that he could take it. As the story goes Earnie hit him with a left to the body the doubled Stallone over, who proceeded to go to the bathroom vomitting and stayed there for a half an hour. Shavers was told that that was it for the day and they'd call him back, but they never did. This isn't a rumor though, this one actually happened (Stallone admitted to it).
ninjashoes 09-26-2007, 08:13 PM Its funny Tyson wanted to be in Rocky 6 but Stallone was too scared, must have been from those other incidents.
If Tyson was in Rocky 6 that movie would have been beyond the wildest dreams of greatness.
I seem to remember something about Lundgren dropping Van Damme when they were filming a fight scene for Universal Soldier..Cant remember the details.

Alekhine_Lord 10-11-2007, 01:26 AM Stallone is just a"movie" fighter. How can he seriously compare with real martial artists like Dolph Lundgren and real fighters like Tyson and Shavers?

On the radio today Dolph said they both got some good shots on each other and that Stallone had to spend a couple of weeks in the hospital after.

VENDO 01-23-2008, 02:24 AM Rocky is the best boxer ever!!
bobbysmith 02-29-2008, 04:06 AM nice
aussjj 02-29-2008, 05:26 AM From wikipedia:
Lundgren holds a 3rd Dan (3rd Degree Black Belt) in Kyokushin Karate and won the European championships in 1980 and 1981 as well as a heavyweight tournament in Australia in 1982 [5]. He was also captain of the Swedish Kyokushin Karate team, and was a formidable challenger at the 1979 World Open Tournament (arranged by the Kyokushin Karate Organization) when he was only a green belt.
"During Rocky IV, Dolph had hit me so hard I had swelling around the heart and had to stay in intensive care at St. John’s Hospital for four days." - Sylvester Stallone
Dolph was also 50 years old when he boxed Oleg Taktarov. So he definately had some skills in his prime.
Such a shame about Masters of the Universe. The first 30 minutes or so of that movie was insane. Then whoever made it had the bright idea that the last hour of the movie would be better spent on Earth surrounded by bad 80s teen drama. Went way downhill once HeMan and his crew left Eternia.
White Snake 03-02-2008, 02:13 AM Tommy Morrison shouldve KOd Stallone when they filmed Rocky V
mikebourkefan 03-03-2008, 07:21 AM I'm wondering about the Segal story now and any other worth while story about celebrities getting fucked up.

The funniest is the dude on MadTV when he used to do the Segal Impersonations. He had the looks and the eyebrow right and everything. Will Sasso...

ferg-a-riffic 03-12-2008, 06:15 AM universal soldier was actually a pretty decent movie, not quite as generic of a plot as most of van damme's films.
knockkraut 03-12-2008, 06:25 AM It was great, in that it celebrated and encouraged the use of performance enhancing drugs. Roids FTW
