I was sparring with a young kid last night and was really taking it to him with very little effort.

Every time I would finish with somthing he would not tap. This isn't that bad when in a choke situation because his choices are limited.

Then I sunk a armbar in really deep, I was holding it with one hand and it was deep, he wouldn't tap so I got up and let him get up too.

Does anyone else have this problem, what do you do I could have torn his arm off Mir style but why it's training.

Fucking tap in sparring I don't want to take your arm home with me but eventually I will.

Yeah .......... I tap as soon as i believe and know i wont be able to get out of the armbar.

Also my instructor was rolling with this one guy and he was refusing to tap when he was caught in a armbar that dude would just not tap and from a result his arm i believe i think popped orsomething dislocated or something he didnt come back for awhile.

Next time you should just crank it abit, obviously not so much that you'll mess his arm up, but enough so that he'll feel it. Do that enough times and i'm sure he'll start tapping...unless of course he's a fan of pain

i didnt mean crank it, if you're refering to me, i just meant to apply some pressure to make sure he knows that he's caught.

but yeah making him fall asleep might be a bit safer

That was what I was going to do just let him close his eyes and get some rest and think about tapping for an extra few seconds.

The smart thing to do would be to tap if u can't get out. No ego's here.

It doesn't make sense not to, but there are always a few people who would rather be injured in training then just tap, which is just plain stupid

You shouldn't crank it too much. If hes diehard, just let the kid go whenever you catch him and look for a different submission. Hes probably a newbie in jiu jitsu and will catch on to the customs eventually.

Yup yer always told to leave yer ego at the door.

I do have my own little style when i compare myself to the other students because i wasn't trained at the place where i roll. It's gracie jiu-jitsu so mostly all of those ppl there they roll very simliar while I you never know what i'll do next because i do things that are kinda flashy.

wow i bragged excuse me.

I have the same problem at my club. I don't understand why people fight submissions in practice like their children's live's are at stake.

Well when me and my brother roll we always don't want to tap to eachother, but if my bro doesn't tap i just let go cause it would be dumb to hurt someone cause there too stupid to tap and realize defeat.

Resin

yeah some people need to just learn to give it up and its not worth getting hurt.

Not taping is so retarded. Especially in sparring.
