Nasty Nate 08-17-2007, 12:33 AM wow. awesome clip
Nasty Nate 08-17-2007, 12:35 AM though i got a question b/c i dont know much about boxing, why dont they give a fight a 10 count when he is not defending himself like that? i mean you not really defending yourself wen your out on the mat and the ref is helping you up.
sean damon 08-17-2007, 01:19 AM ^^^ im not sure. i guess the guy who gets knocked out standing and continues to get hit it gets dangerous for that fighter. like don frye and james thompson. that beating frye took was just uncalled for.in this fight there was some controversy, people were saying the ref jumped in to soon. but to me he was out and being held up by the ropes. i think the ref made a good decision. that whole fight was a fucking war. every round. one of my favorite fights in any combat sport.
ItBurnzWhenIP 08-17-2007, 01:37 AM The reason this fight was called like that is how brutal the entire fight had been. Neither fighter has ever been the same since. When Castillo was obviously out on his feet the risk of serious injury to him was as serious as in any other fight i've ever seen just through cumulative damage. Thus the stoppage.
Beanflicker 08-17-2007, 02:46 AM It was a wild round no question. You can't write or script that kind of drama.
Speaking of Deigo I broke out some of my Floyd Mayweather dvds today and watched his fight with Diego. You gotta give Diego credit for wanting to continue. Floyd made him look like a bum, but he showed a lot of heart.
kronker 08-17-2007, 04:45 AM Yeah I'm going to go watch this entire fight now because the stoppage looked like bullshit but I've read all your posts so maybe it was justified.
For me personally from this one round it didn't look like a justified stoppage, especially after Diego was knocked down twice and allowed to continue. You can see why this is more dangerous than MMA though.
wow incredible show of heart and determination respect to that guy. his name chico ?
to be honest tho i didn't like the continueing damage he was taking, getting knocked down then back up 3 or 4 times wouled really mess with his brain.

His name is Diego "Chico" Corrales, as for brain damage there's great probability but since he tragically died he was never affected by it.
RIP Chico Corrales - You showed us what heart truly is

Motorbike accident, apparently he was overtaking a car and clipped a Honda Accord at high speeds which launched him reportedly the length of a football field.
Here's a link - said he was travelling at 100mph.

ahh shit unfortunate loss of a great boxer there. thx for info rob mate :sifone:
RIP Chico
Beanflicker 08-18-2007, 03:20 PM But an important thing to note is that he was 3 times over the blood/alcohol limit. So he was drunk, driving his motorcycle at high speeds through busy Las Vegas streets. Such a stupid fucking thing to do, expecially with a little girl, wife, and a baby on the way. Its tragic but the guy brought it on himself.

I read somewhere that there was no outward evidence of alcohol or drugs in his system. I guess that was just the preliminary report and toxology reports proved otherwise.

Into an oncoming car...
Chico had a problem with alcohol and driving and it eventually caught up to him in a tragic way... I found one of his little brothers on Myspace after it happened. (That was one of the few times Myspace has ever been worth a shit for me) And he said he would take up boxing to honor his brother's memory. Watch for him someday hopefully.
Beanflicker 08-18-2007, 11:37 PM right after he died I went on his Myspace page and his main pic was of him and his little girl. Really tragic stuff.
ItBurnzWhenIP 08-19-2007, 12:29 AM yup
