there is some serious rep for anyone who can help me fix this.:sifone:

ok heres the story

i bought a evga 8800 gts 320mb. i got it hooked up in my rig and got all the drivers installed and everything. went to play a game and was greeted with BSOD after BSOD. super gay right? so i start trouble shooting until it comes to the ram. i downloaded memtest NOT MEMTEST86 (as i do not have a floppy drive nor any blank cd's) anyways soon after running memtest it reports some errors. this is super messed up because my ram was fine with my previous card (6600 gt 128mb). so i ignore this for a while and i use driver cleaner to remove all nvidia drivers from my pc. once all drivers were removed i ran memtest in safemode. got to 100% with NO ERRORS. WTF?.

I have tried the following drivers for my card and all have failed...
168.18
97.92
158.22
97.92

the error messages i have ran into are:
nv4_disp.dll
win32k.sys
driver irql not less or equal
memory_managment
pfn_list_corrupt
attempted to write to read only memory
page fault in non paged area.

as you can see things are super messed up.

So does anyone have any suggestions on why there are no ram errors in safe mode with no drivers installed and many errors in normal mode with all drivers installed??

My specs are
P5NSLI motherboard
Kingston value ram 1gb
evga 8800gts 320mb
intel core duo e6600

And again super rep for anyone who can offer a solution

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Uh oh.

P5N SLI motherboard is the problem. It's very finicky about the parts it's using.

Anyway, you need to run memtest86. Buy a floppy disc or a blank CD.

Flash the BIOS to the latest version and see if it works. If not, then it's time to get a new motherboard.

If you can return the motherboard, return it. Exchange it for another board.

I had the same exact motherboard and it caused BSODs up the ass because it's not workin well with my RAM (Corsair XMS2 DDR1066)

I replaced that bitch with another board. An Asus P5K-E motherboard and everything worked fine.

Did you try the 8800 on another PC? The motherboard is infamous for not getting along well with 8800-based cards and RAM that's not on the list of its recommended sticks.

oh haha sorry i ment it was the 8800 not getting enough power so im gunna go buy a psu later today and see how she goes.

was using a 450 smart power antec PSU but the 12v rails dont have enough amps i guess i dunno ill just pick up a new one probably 600 watts. any recommendations? (must have atleast 26-30 amps on 12v rail)

yup exactly. Asus motherboards imo, are the best, but their initial BIOS versions that ship tend to suck. the best thing you can do is get an Asus board and then immediately flash the BIOS to latest version.
