According to the application for this year's 2007 WWE Diva Search, there are some significant changes to the annual contest as opposed to previous years. Here is a quick rundown of some of these changes: WWE will be selecting 50 semi-finalists followed by a casting on August 16 where judges will select the 8 finalists. All finalists will then film a series of "challenges" in Los Angeles from August 17-19 that will be taped and edited for WWE TV. Fans will then be asked to vote every week. The finalist who receives the fewest number of votes each will be eliminated, while all Challenge performances of the remaining finalists will be broadcast during WWE TV and WWE.com. (This means they will simply edit out the eliminated competitors and portray the footage as being brand new) And one of the biggest changes this year is that the winner of the contest will not win the traditional $250,000 prize, but will instead be awarded a WWE Talent Contract worth up to $100,000. According to the application, "The Talent Contract will be subject to WWE standard terms and conditions."

It appears the WWE SummerSlam Anthology DVD set, which was already in production, appears to be on hold for the time being. According to reports, WWE is currently trying to decide how older footage of Chris Benoit will be utilized, if at all, on future WWE DVD releases from the company including this big SummerSlam DVD release. We hope to have more on this situation soon.

WWE.com is reporting that Chavo Guerero will be defending the WWE Cruiserweight Title against Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore, Funaki and Jamie Noble in a Cruiserweight Open Match tomorrow at WWE's The Great American Bash PPV in San Jose, California.

It sounds like they are going to cover their asses in case the diva that get picked sucks.

They should just leave the Benoit footage on the DVD, I'm sorry but it's just stupid to edit out entire matches that other workers busted their ass performing too. It isn't fair to the likes of Jericho, Michaels, HHH, etc. I can understand discontinuing any of his direct merchandise [his best of DVD, his action figures, shirts, etc.] but editing DVDs is dumb.

I agree slug. They should leave his matches in tact. If anything edit the commentary to make him look like a cocksucker. Something like "that's a great belly to belly suplex...I bet this guy is a cocksucker in real life. here's the pin!"

Well if they really want to make him look like shit, have Don West commentate every match he's done.
