Helps develop flexibility, strength, posture, breathing and staying calm under pressure. It's alot easier to keep myself and my breath relaxed when I'm stuck in bottom side mount with some big ass dude on top of me since I've been practicing yoga. If you can keep your breath when you are all twisted up in a pose, it's alot easier to keep your breath when being smashed. mini_bj 07-14-2007, 08:29 AM helps alot mfsky 07-18-2007, 07:29 PM I'd like to learn more about the benefits and specific practices for BJJ/grappling. Juno 07-23-2007, 07:35 AM The benefits aren't specific, they're general. Pilates will help with balance, muscle coordination and flexibility. All of these are fundamental to successful BJJ. I would agree with Juno But I think that yoga has a more direct benefits to grappling.I like to use yoga on my active rest days when I am working out. I feel that it has helped me with recovery of mind and body. Another benefit not mentioned yet is all that ASS! in your face you find at a yoga class. Some hot chicks bending into some unimaginable positions. This is worth the price of admission. I will include a link to a yoga site that is jam packed with infohttp://www.yogadancer.com/Asana.shtml ralf1234 07-27-2007, 08:52 AM thx RossBJJ 08-01-2007, 05:53 AM ive used yoga for about a year, i can put both my legs behind my head without even using my hands, its like, a painless position for me, i can pretty much triangle from any position with this kind of flexibility, i highly recommend yoga for grappling. mastema13 08-02-2007, 03:14 AM Sound like something that I can use. sayukishine 08-13-2007, 05:17 AM im learnings soo much new things today lols...sounds like it'll help alot Lopyswine 08-14-2007, 05:19 AM if you are going to do yoga, make sure its ashtanga yoga. pbturbo 08-14-2007, 03:42 PM if you are going to do yoga, make sure its ashtanga yoga. At most gyms/health clubs (my experience anyways), the only class that has hotter chicks than "boxercise" is yoga. http://i9.tinypic.com/4ut6kyh.jpg That could come in handy... vBulletin® v3.7.4, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. |
