I'm joining a gym in september but i can't decide on what kind of place to go to.
I don't have enough money for both lol.. if i did i would definatly try both. Sooo.... judo vs. boxing, i know the final decision is up to me but i just wanna hear what you guys think.

boxing will be way cheaper but inevitable lead to punch drunkeness and getting a tatoo on your face

I think the best weapon is a great PUNCH to the Face!

There's plenty of other fighters with great work ethics and not as much controversy surrounding them.

Your certainly young enough to do both. Had you been say 35+ I would have said boxing. Judo can wreck older bodies.

boxing is a martial art too

any type of fighting you practice is a martial art

btw I would go with Judo since you learn control and subs but Vens right theres nothing quicker than a punch to the face plus boxing will help you avoid the flash KO

Where do you live?

I haven't taken any martial arts class in a while. I knew of 1 judo place that charges 20 bucks. 2 places that have boxing gyms, the first one is 10 bucks, the other one is free. Its in Los Angeles though.

i would go with boxing first if i had to choose. if your looking for a skill that will transfer into real life fight effectively. that and i like punching people.

You might be able to find a free boxing gym in your area.

I think it's important to establish what you want to achieve with it. Do you want effective self defense? Then go for boxing. Do you want a sport to strengthen your whole body? Go for judo.
Neither of the two are well-rounded martial arts, and even together they lack some kicking.

judo is okay but it lacks a ground game

boxing is too limited by rules and they dont know how to grapple

i'd go with gracie jiu jitsu

there's not a lot of selection around here. I think there's only the one boxing gym. There is only one judo place. I never really looked around for jj places.

I would say judo it gives you a good knowledge of balance and throwing people around, plus striking is something you can work on when your sparring with someone outside of judo class
