View Full Version : Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer (spoilers)
Rynoplasty 07-02-2007, 08:59 AM Saw this a couple of days ago and thought it was great. Better than the original and still mainly faithful to the comic origin if you are a comic fan. The only gripes I have are about Galactus, and they are a) he was a big cloud the whole movie, except for what appears to be the outline of his helmet at the end, which is awesome. b) he appears to be destroyed by the Surfer at the end, while the Surfer is shown to have somehow survived at the end, wtf, the Surfer KILLED Galactus?!???!
Other than that awesome fucking movie, and those small points do not make it bad, especially compared to the butchery of a comic book that was X-3.
nzjujitsu 07-02-2007, 11:50 AM another bullshit thing that i might be wrong about. im sure when someone takes the board away from the surfer it doesnt do shit to him . he can make his own surf board from his body. plus the surfer would have been able to destroy dr doom in an instant with his cosmic power

But I have to defend X-3 a TINY bit. The phoenix saga could only be told in a lord of the rings style trilogy. They had to dumb it down, and I don't think it was THAT bad. The real mistake in my eyes was going with that particular plot line to begin with. They should have made an original story that they could do justice to in one film. And the truth is, NO comic-book adaption is made for the real comic book fans. Everybody has a passing knowledge of spider-man, batman and most think they are neato. They are catering to the mostly ignorant masses. They could say spidey's name was Peter O'Malley and most people wouldn't know any different.
Sorry about the rant. I just think that many people who have actually read the books tend to have perhaps too high of expectations for comic adaptations (myself included).
Neo_Pop 07-04-2007, 05:49 AM FF 2 was bad. It was like a bad sitcom.

I didn't think X-3 was a bad movie, just an awful butchery. I mean Cyclops was killed by Jean Grey, WTF?? Basically just to get him out of the way and give Wolverine some extra shots.
ninjashoes 07-05-2007, 03:22 AM I hated it big time, the silver surfer was my favorite comic as a kid and I cringed when they mentioned his power coming from his board, worst butchery of a character ever, made a supposed godlike being so weak throughout a good chunk of the movie. He barely even was able to fight anyone all he did was deflect a few missles.
I waited the whole movie waiting for galactus and they screwed us over bigtime, like it isnt obvious they just didnt have enought money, they want these movie to be profitable and all.
horrible horrible, pissed me off big time
I hated xmen 3 as well, that was possibly the worst comic adaptation I have ever seen from the army of mutants at the end which seemingly had no powers to Juggernauts horrible british accent, oh man just a horrible jumbled mess of a movie with a plotline worse than the spiderman clone saga.
I liked Ghost Rider although I can see why some people might have a problem. I absolutely loved Spiderman 3 in every way, nothing to complain about really although I would have liked more Venom time alot more I can understand it can't be a 4 hour movie.

Hahahahahaha... I will not watch FF2... actually I will one day, but not on purpose
I watched X-3 again the other day and am now seeing your point of view about it being stupid... I still like the movie as an action film but can understand why fans of X-Men would hate it (I think)
Ghost Rider sucked so bad (in my eyes) but I actually enjoyed it because it was so bad. Again though, not a comic book fan so maybe I didn't get it.
Will not budge on Spiderman 3 though...
