Okay, I know I'm the FNG here, but there were no topics on nutrition.

I'm hoping people will post information on:

Supplementing
Vitamin consumption
Weight/Fat loss
Cutting weight
Weight gaining
Etc.

Questions are good, as I'm sure some of us have valuable knowledge.

Screw the fad diets - eat a balanced diet.

Okay, that's one.........

I guess I just figured people would have an interest in nutrition. Maybe I'm wrong.

Incase anyone is wondering, I have a degree in Nutritional Science, and work part time as a nutrionist at a local hospital.

You base your diet on your goals.
Diet can’t be directly tied to athletic performance because there are too many factors. Including a persons god given genetics of speed strength quickness agility etc. but if you just care about your physical appearance then diet can be as much as 80% to 90% of the battle.

Yeah fish is probably one of the best foods you can get along with spinach. I like spinach because it has fibre and natural glutamine in it. The fats in fish are so good for you body and your heart that i eat fish at least once a day. But everyone is different. I have a friend he eats chocolate as part of his diet 4 times a day...and he's cut. Some people are just freaks and others have to work so hard at nutrition. I have to eat 6 times a day just to stay at my weight.

the nutrition all depends on what you want out of it. no matter what you want, a lot of fat isnt going to get you anywhere. if you want to gain weight, dont go for fatty stuff just eat more calories than youre burning.

i agree about screwing the fad diets and eating a balanced diet.. however, it's incomplete in that food produced in the U.S. is pretty much devoid of nutrition.. (fertilizers only replace 4 minerals where we need like over 50 essential minerals for optimum health)

hence the need for supplementation.. ;)

wutever anybody tells you, do not go on a low carb diet. For an athlete, that is the stupidest thing as carbohydrates are the best source of energy for your body out of all three macronutrients and are especially important due to the fact that they restore glycogen (a form of glucose stored in the muslces and liver) levels. Glycogen is used by the body for shrt periods of higher intensity activity.

I start the day with a mass gainer shake. it seems to work good.

1 banana
2 cups 1% milk
1 scoop whey protein <---i use vanilla flavor
2 tablespoons peanut butter

I think it tastes good
