The "regular" WBA lightweight title is still vacant after Jose Cotto (older brother of Miguel) and Thailand's Prawat Singwangcha fought to a 12-round draw in Salinas, Puerto Rico. The scores were 114-114, 114-114 and judge Tom Miller had it 117-111 for Singwangcha.
Ringside observers saw Cotto winning the first six rounds, while Singwangcha dominated the second half of the fight. Singwangcha has been undefeated since 1999.
Cotto's record goes to 28-1-1, 20 KOs, while Singwangcha has a tally of 30-2-1, 18 KOs.
The title became vacant after Juan Diaz was given "super champion" status by the WBA after winning the WBO version of the title from Acelino Freitas.
