Your FAQ is for real!!!!
Beanflicker 05-05-2007, 02:34 AM If you're serious about getting into boxing, my advice would be to...
a) first, google "boxing basics" or something like that, familiarize yourself with the fundamentals of boxing, the different punches, basic strategies, ect. It will help to have some knowledge on the art of boxing, because if you do boxing will be soo much more enjoyable. If you don't, you'll find the majority of boxing dull because you'll just be sitting there waiting for someone to get knocked out.
b) Join a boxing forum (saddoboxing is a good one, there are a lot of others), ask questions and listen to what the vets say. Don't take anyone's opinion as written in stone, no matter how long they've been watching boxing, because like MMA most boxing discussion is subjective. But on a lot of these forums you got guys who have been watching boxing since when Muhammad Ali was champ, so it can be usefull to utilize their experience.
3) Just watch a lot of boxing. After awhile you'll start to "get it", and it'll become much more exciting.
Believe me I was like most MMA fans a few years ago, I thought "yeah boxing is just two guys dancing around, its just a small part of MMA, why watch boxing when you can watch MMA, ect". But once you get into it its VERY addicting!
I got hooked on boxing when I started reading up on the history of the sport, try and pick up some good boxing books like boxing encyclopedia
download some of the fights we got, there all good fights in there
I recommened Mayweather/Corales for today
bigbadroy 05-05-2007, 01:27 PM it's to late. after this fight(de lahoya-mayweather) boxing is dead

This boxing is dead*cough* line is getting boring.
amanamagus 05-05-2007, 03:10 PM ^^^^I agree. This fight will resurrect boxing.
Boxing doesn't need the thumbs up from mma fans to be succesful,it never has & never will.
Boxing has a stable base of fans & unlike a good percentage of mma fans theyre not wagon jumpers or kids.Gaining attention from casual fans can never be considered as integral to its survival.Thats merely the opinion of the
uninitiated.

Agreed 100%. Well said
I have to laugh at these people who have the impression that De La Hoya/Mayweather is the only thing to happen in boxing since Tyson/Lewis. Fuck, There have consistently been great fights made for the 3 years or so that I've followed boxing.
Last time I checked Bob Arum and Don King were still mutli millionaires. I've never seen Vitali Klitchko or Kelly Pavlik on the street begging for change. Boxing is doing just fine.
