The University of Minnesota's Minnesota Daily newspaper is the latest local periodical to cover AWA Legend Baron Von Raschke's autobiographical play "The Baron", which is currently playing through May at The History Theatre, with the reviewer calling the show, "a fun, nostalgic look at times gone by, and by the end, one cares little whether wrestling is real." There's been a lot of attention given to NASCAR personality Tony Stewart claiming NASCAR is taking a page from professional wrestling and working results. On his weekly satellite radio show, Stewart commented, ""I guess NASCAR thinks, 'Hey, wrestling worked, and it was for the most part staged, so I guess it's going to work in racing, too... I don't know that they've run a fair race all year." Stewart's comments come after he lost a recent race despite controlling most of the event. To read more about it, click here.
A reference to Hulk Hogan from the off-Broadway show "Evil Dead: The Musical" (which, by the way, if you missed seeing in New York City, you really should slap yourself) made the cast recording which was released this past Tuesday. In the show, Cheryl, (a woman who turns into a demon) tells her brother Ash (the hero of the musical), "I'll get you Ash! I'm like a literal Hulk Hogan, I'll get you brother!" The show also featured several other wrestling references as actor Tom Walker snuck in a Hogan posedown as well as the DX crotch chop during "It's Time", the climactic final battle between good and evil in the show.
