Its supposed to look cheesy, their trying to recreate the grindhouse style movie experience from the 70s. Their not bad films, just entertaining as shit. The best way to describe it would probably be Comedy, Action, Sex, and just Gross horror type shit.

Heres one of the fake trailers from Grindhouse.

this explains it exactly

YES IT WAS STUPID AS FUCK AND YES IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE STUPID AS FUCK

not good movies but entertaining for sure

I'm a big fan of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino but the way they do horror movies is just too damn cheesy for me. I definetly enjoyed these flicks but they dont have any logical direction I mean they never explained who El Ray was supposed to be and those women in Death Proof were so fuckin annoying I almost turned my TV off. I know he made them annoying because we were supposed to want to see them get killed.

Overall I give the set of movies a b-

great from an artistic standpoint but if they were trying to make horror movies people will remember they failed

Tarantino is all flash and bang with no substance. I don't ask for much in the way of plot/story, but watching his movies make me feel like I've just done crack, and the experience is about as meaningful.

I don't like when he tries to do horror but wow how could you say Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction don't kick ass?

I don't know. I wasn't a fan of Pulp Fiction. I was young when I saw it, maybe 13. Perhaps I didn't understand it. Haven't seen Reservoir Dogs.

It's not fair to judge that movie since I was so young. But others I've seen: Desperado, Dusk til Dawn, some Asian foreign film he directed--a love story, and at least one more I'm sure.

In every case I've seen a guy who tries to replace story with lots of gunfire, "artsy" camera angles, and tons of profanity. He seems like those hack poets who spew a bunch of mish-mash gobbledy-gook that makes no sense and pass it off as "edgy" and "sophisticated".

IE: "Dawn rising, terminator. Love falls. Epoch. Vagina dripping. Fade away..."

Then people clap because they think they were just too dumb to understand it. It's the "Emperor with No Clothes" syndrome.

I'll reserve my opinion on Pulp Fiction, but otherwise, I haven't seen a glimmer of a storyteller underneath all the guns and blood.

Resevoir Dogs is one of the best movies ever made.

Desperado and Dusk Till Dawn are not examples of Tarantinos work, he did not make those movies, he did work on Dusk Till Dawn but Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico were by Robert Rodriguez.

Asian foreign film? What love story are you talking about? True Romance?

Sounds like you think what most people think until they look a little deeper into Tanatinos work and understand why movies and TV have been ripping him off for years.

-"Dawn rising, terminator. Love falls. Epoch. Vagina dripping. Fade away..."

these movies are nothing like Tarantinos movies, not even close

tarrentino is the biggest film fan who ever got a chance to make that's why his movies are so well scripted. he trys to make classics and does a good job trying.

i grew up on terminator 1&2, predator 1&2 , alien 1 3 and aliens, schwartzenegger in his prime, sylvester and other damn cool movies and these days there ain't many to compare to these classics. tarrentino does a good job tho.

Interesting. I can tell you know what you are talking about. Sounds like I've been looking at the wrong "Tarantino". I'll have to check out Reservoir Dogs.

BTW, that whole quote starting with "Dawn Rising" was meant to be my imitation of a verse from a hack-poet. Seriously, I must have subconsciously started listing movie titles, there are quite a few in there. Fucking weird.
