View Full Version : Why do people consider Money = Happiness
amanamagus 03-21-2007, 09:12 AM Money cant buy me happiness. With money comes Stress, Busy life away from family. People have literally gone crazy. The lust for money makes you do crazy things, Stupid things. People with loads of wealth still indulge in corruption. It becomes a part of their persona. Cheating becomes a habit and later it becomes their character. I think that Rich People and Poor folks have different experiences. Not better Not Worse.
Can money buy you happiness?. I think contentment does!
amanamagus 03-21-2007, 09:17 AM How do you define success. I think people have a myth that Success = Money. I'd rather think that Success has nothing to do with Money or fame. Its a state of mind. Its happiness for a job which a person is passionate about which is all well done. Its happiness which you get by seeing the face of your loved ones
PoIsON KaRaSu 03-21-2007, 09:31 AM Money sucks
i hate it but sadly the goverment taxes the people
bills to pay taxes ect. brings stress and its almost like your forced in to wanting money because in this day and age you got to pay the piper
some people go over board. to me money is evil but even i have to stress over this anoying paper currency. your forced into needing it. man has created money and now money rules the world.
i dream of a day when we dont have to stress over money or material objects
every one can plant crops and share them with the neighbor then everyone will be fed and can enjoy there life doing whatever they please
the only labor would be tending to the crops and building sheltsr
and other intresting trades . life would be more enriched people would grow stronger and we would have a stronger bond with the earth
thats just off the top of my head who knows
Reaper Man 03-22-2007, 01:00 AM Money should not be the end, but it makes a very good means.
Seriously man, how old are you--15?

Money definitely plays an important thing in our lives. Its just that excess of it does not translate into happiness.
ninjashoes 03-23-2007, 12:06 AM I agree with you 100%
Dont get me wrong its nice to know you can use your money if say your mother gets deathly ill and has medical bills to pay. Its a nice comforting feeling knowing you have that security. Its also nice if you have enough money that you dont have to work.
Money just brings material things and the happiness brought about by material things is just an obsession and an illusion.
All I ask is enough so I can pay my bills and buy a few things here and there. I dont want to be rich because I know money does not bring happiness especially for me since I dont crave material things and I try not to compare myself to others.
Money=Emptiness because money has limitations, the best things in life you cant pay for such as connecting with others and having a deeper understanding of things. Money cant clear up the darkness in your heart, you have to do that on your own.

I think your trouble is that you don't know what to do with the money you have.

nope, I just am aware of money's limitations, like I said its nice to have but if you think its gonna bring you happiness then.....well thats just an illusion

I recognize its limitations, but even more I recognize the limitations of people without it.
Reaper Man 03-23-2007, 09:58 PM p.s. I am not rich.
amanamagus 03-23-2007, 11:23 PM I recognize its limitations, but even more I recognize the limitations of people without it.
Money is necessary but it excess of it simply does not translate into Happiness.

Ask a man on his deathbed how valuable his riches are.

blackthorne 03-24-2007, 06:03 AM Money buys happiness at the most extreme ends of the spectrum; for the rich man who is only a credit card swipe away from touring a beautiful place like Italy, money buys happiness. For a poor man who is barely able to afford a decent meal, money can buy happiness.
For those who don't have to worry about essentials, and can't afford the luxury of touring the world whenever they feel like it, there is far more room and time for self-discovery.
ALFRED 03-24-2007, 06:10 AM I think that money is power and without money you are powerless. That is what our society has come to.

Traveling is something that you like, finding something that you like can bring happiness. Its not the money that brought you this happiness though, its the realization that the world is beautiful. Can money provide you with access to the things you like? Sure, can you be just as happy without as much access to those things as a rich man?, hell yeah, You don't need money to see Italy, I've known plenty of college students who have come back from europe with the most fantastic stories. All they took was their backpack.
Its your enthusiam to see the world thats important, not the wealth that lines your pocket. Money cannot teach you that Italy is beautiful, you have to realize that on your own. You need that happiness that comes from the inside to be able to quell the storm of negativety that will allow you to smell the roses.
For a poor man who is barely able to afford a decent meal, money can buy happiness.
If an addict craves a hit all day and finally gets it after 30 hours of scrambling to scrape together 20 bucks is he happy when he gets that hit? Is he a happy person?
Theres way more to truly being "happy" than pleasure.
For those who don't have to worry about essentials, and can't afford the luxury of touring the world whenever they feel like it, there is far more room and time for self-discovery.
The Ironic thing is that a happy positive person is more likely to make money. The reality you can create with a positive attitude and inner strength can make you very rich.

Its nice having the "Power" to quit your job and do things the way you want. All that money wont give you the power to keep your loved ones from dying.
Money is in no way the answer to happiness,it does grease the wheels though.
jessemc 03-31-2007, 07:27 PM "people that say money wont make you happy never had any" -ben afflack, in the movie The Boiler Room.
It would be nice to have lots of money. but a spiritual life is the only way to have real wealth.
jessemc 03-31-2007, 07:27 PM thats why rich dudes kill themsevles and crap
