View Full Version : Fucken retarded guy at my gym
Jason 03-19-2007, 08:19 PM i was doing 15 rounds on the heavy bag at my gym and this fat fuckin 5'6 guy from nicaragu (sp) comes up and tells me he used to be a pro boxer and that hittin heavy bags is stupid and the best way to have fast and powerful punches is to use those gay pink colored resistance bands...fuck it was funny...he was tryin to demonstrate and all u can do with those bands is uppercuts cuz he was steppin on em...fuck i had to hold in the laughter
Resin 03-19-2007, 08:22 PM ..... annoying.
Sepiku . 03-19-2007, 08:23 PM He actually is right even though he was a giant ass in doing so.
ninjashoes 03-19-2007, 08:48 PM I've seen Fedor do similar excersises with resistance bands.
sean damon 03-19-2007, 08:57 PM you need tai bo if you want to make it anywhere in boxing.
SmokinGunz 03-19-2007, 09:02 PM actually he's right at some point...he's an ass for telling you hitting the bag isn't good, but those resistance bands work very well, either by stepping on them or hooking them to a door or panel behind you to work on jabs and straights.
Jason 03-19-2007, 09:06 PM yeah i know...but he just said u only step on them and uppercut and that jabbin is pointless and cardio is pointless and heavy bag too...then i knew he was full of shite so i tried talkin boxin with him and he didnt even know who earnie shavers was or gatti or mayweather
ummmm, okay, he's a strange little fat man, i recomend not listening to him anymore
ninjashoes 03-19-2007, 09:30 PM yeah he sounds like a retard
the heavy bag is probably the most important thing you can do next to actually sparring

yeah, that would be some funny shit to see.
Tom Stall 03-20-2007, 01:00 AM to tell you the truth... i rarely use the bag at my regular weight lifting gym... i don't like it when people start to look. i would only use it in my fighting gym
On a side note I have met Earnie Shavers several times in Liverpool - he worked as a bouncer there - not sure if he still does - been a year or so since I have been the bar he worked - probably still there as he has been for years now.
Really genuine nice dude as well.

yeah shavers is the shit....lots of boxers have said he hits the hardest
VENDO 03-21-2007, 03:14 AM hitting the bag is for perfecting your technique more than anything.
VENDO 03-21-2007, 03:15 AM And you can't really earn power, either you have it or you don't.
You just have to improve technique{hitting the bag}, and accuracy{double end bag,Focus mitts}, and some other here and there little workouts.
The double end bag is the best for hand-eye coordination, Reaactions, speed, reflexes, adn all that shit.
nzjujitsu 03-21-2007, 10:06 AM And you can't really earn power, either you have it or you don't.
fucking bullshit , you can train power.
Tom Stall 03-21-2007, 07:08 PM i agree that you can train power. the statement even if you have it or you don't is not 100% accurate. although some people have more explosive short twitch fibers and seem to have more power and speed than others.
having better technique means a more efficient way of executing a move thus an increase in power.
VENDO 03-22-2007, 01:43 AM fucking bullshit , you can train power.
It's kinda true man.
You can't train to have chuck liddell power, Tyson/Foreman power. Why don't you think some boxers hit harder than others? THey all pretty much train the same way.. It's Genetics.
nzjujitsu 03-22-2007, 01:59 AM yeah i didnt deny that. i think that you can train to have power like foreman ect because foreman didnt train his speed as much as other people. im sure if some guy just trained power for 25 years he would be pretty strong
Respect 03-22-2007, 03:39 AM Focus mitts are way more important than heavy bag. Training power is very difficult. Think about it if some one said hit this bag as hard as you can, would you throw a punch the same way as in a fight?
nzjujitsu 03-22-2007, 04:14 AM no you wouldnt.. but that doesnt matter. if you train to make your punches harder they will be harder in general
VENDO 03-22-2007, 06:34 AM technique and accuracy makes up for what you lack in power. Look at nick diaz.
nzjujitsu 03-22-2007, 07:50 AM what does that have to do with the price of fish. we are talking about power here not the lack there of
Tom Stall 03-22-2007, 07:56 AM technique and accuracy makes up for what you lack in power. Look at nick diaz.
he has real bad technique..... that pawing shit is gonna get him knocked out one day....
Jason 03-22-2007, 04:45 PM technique and accuracy makes up for what you lack in power. Look at nick diaz.
diaz is very arrcurate but he doesnt lack power at all....i bet he hits harder than anyone on this site...watch the lawler fight...dood has heavy hands...just lately hes pepperin people with jabs and its working
VENDO 03-23-2007, 01:30 AM I don't know, to me he barely tapped lawler.
VENDO 03-23-2007, 01:31 AM he has real bad technique..... that pawing shit is gonna get him knocked out one day....
Yeah true.
I hate that pawing shit.
Respect 03-24-2007, 08:06 PM "no you wouldnt.. but that doesnt matter. if you train to make your punches harder they will be harder in general" -- Have fun wailing on the heavy bag like a toughman competition.
nzjujitsu 03-24-2007, 11:50 PM stfu noob take your 41 posts and fuck off
Jason 03-28-2007, 09:58 PM im really confused....but i think you can train power to some degree...but yeah some people just have much more natural punching power than other
GiantRobotDelux 04-06-2007, 06:55 PM i just beat my roomates dog.
Aiden 04-06-2007, 07:43 PM i just beat my roomates dog.
repped
Billy SexCrime 04-24-2007, 06:35 AM You can develop power and speed. Not just technique. Don't listen to guys who approach you at the gym. Usually they think they know alot about everything but in reality, no one pays them any mind.
nakedrear 04-24-2007, 08:02 AM Technique helps your power immensely. If your technique is already great: no, you aren't going to gain any power. If it isn't (like most): you have a lot of room to grow. Take a left hook. I used to have a LH like a limp dick. In fact, most do. A lot of practice later, with my form correct, a lot of people are stunned by the power I show.
We all have limits, but most of us have plenty of room to grow.
Shogunownes 04-28-2007, 07:12 AM technique will beat power any day.
Respect 05-01-2007, 11:23 PM Does anyone on this thread actually box? I mean have you competed? At anything? nzjujitsu dude you dont know what you are talking about and probably get punked all the time. Computer nerd with a chip on your shoulder is all you are...
nzjujitsu 05-02-2007, 05:38 AM yeah thats what it must be right ? enjoy your new av
