well that was strange......... i heel hook one kid not even full force and all you hear is "pop, pop, pop, pop." "instructor goes one more time yer out of here".

the thing is he said no twisting movements if he would have said no heel hooks at the time i would have known... at the time it didn't register what he said.

the kid i did it to is an advanced white belt who's always gave me a hard time rolling with...... also he's been wanting to roll with me for the last 4 weeks then the day finally came when im done rolling with one guy and he says ".m",want to roll?"

See what happens? ........... i apologized to him and my instructor and i also told him he should have said no heel hooks to me and it would have registered a lot faster.

It's true i was told only purple belts can do that... i had no idea since i dont consider myself a newbie or a lower rank fuck that i dont believe in belt systems.

the thing is i never even applied that much preassure if i would have known i would have never done it i also told that white advanced belt that next time imma just go for a boston crab.

However, a broken leg is much more dangerous than a broken arm. You can die from a healing broken leg because a clot can develop and travel to your heart or brain. Also the bone can puncture the major artery running thru the leg.

some teachers don't want blue belts and bellow to use leg locks because they don't know how to control themselves, and if they use heel hooks on other blue and bellow the guy getting heelhooked sometime doesn't know when to tap

sometimes heel hooks don't hurt until it is too late you should know when you are beat
the guy obviously didn't know his knee and ankle were about to pop

it's pretty easy to fuck someone's knee up with a heel hook. unlike an armlock or even an achiles hold which have an even gradiant of pain. So a tough guy who can resist a choke tries the same thing with a heel hook; and it goes from alittle pressure to broke quick.

Sounds like he is a complete cunt from what he said to you. That kind of idiotic distinction between different kinds of grapplers should be the preserve of whiny kung fu lineage whores. Fuck that shit when you are rolling.

"Oh no that guy is a asshole, total submission wrestler he's not really a bjj guy." Moronic. Only people looking for reasons to denigrate someone or their talent to either seem better themselves or to make it look like the other guy is less talented playa in other people's eyes make that kind of comment. In other words, bitches that will never cut it.

Just tell your instructor you don't want to roll with him again on the basis of what he said and not bust out the leglocks without checking b4 hand whoever you roll with is down with them. Can't kick you out for heel-hooking people then, and you can't act on the temptation to break his shit one day whilst avoiding any possiblity and one deciding to snap an arm during a drill or some shit.

Prolly shouldn't pulled out a heel-hook on a white belt tho....but :gives:

It doesn't take much pressure at all to finish a heelhook, especially if he turns the wrong way--in to it. I really don't think a heelhook is appropriate for anybody but the upper belts. It's not just that they know how to control a heelhook, it's that they know the proper escapes and when to tap early.

^^^ yeah thats for real...if the person is inexperienced and turns into it, he'll literally fuck him self up. heel hooks are illegal in some grappling tournaments too. they allow straight leg locks only.

Well.... it's pretty safe to say that guy won't be back for awhile. His foot is pretty jacked up by now. I wasn't trying to hurt him though, i don't go out there to hurt anyone. The white advanced belt is pretty good though, he's no total newb. He also said if i remebered correctly... "it's okay, next time i'll have to not xpose my legs". I admire him being a stand up guy. I just didn't know what to make of his comments after the incident. He believes he'll be back by next week.... I seriously, doubt it, i feel totally bad about it though..... the silly thing is this submission is one that other students have done to me but i escaped them.

I prefer it that way (at tournaments). I'm going to the NAGA tournament in WI in May, and they allow twisting leglocks in all of the adult no-gi divisions (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). I really don't think that's right. I'm just going to have fun, and I'll only be doing intermediate. I say leave such a dangerous technique to the advanced division.

It's funny that they don't allow the heelhook except in the purple belts and above in the gi tourney. I guess that's because it'll be tighter with the gi. But still, I don't like it for anybody less than advanced. There are SO many other techniques out there, and many many other leglocks. You do more good than bad by removing a technique like that which carries a high risk of injury.

Are you sure you jacked up his foot? A properly applied heelhook affects the knee, which is why it's so dangerous. Knee injuries are particularly nasty, because they never heal well and the surgeries they do for it are still not so effective; you'll pretty much always have a nagging injury--or worse.
