The greatest band of all time, without debate
Though i'll be the first to admit that i never "got" or liked The Beatles for my entire youth. I for some reason thought they were just a 60's Pop act that had a Ed sullivan appearance and some top 40 tunes... boy was I wrong. It took alot of guitar playing and weed smoking to finally get past the steriotypical imagine "The Beatles" cast, and to truly endevour into thier Catolog of music they produced... but endevour I did

repped, i honestly think discovering musci like this changed my whole outlook of life... there has never been a better collection of talent, and the way music seems to be going there never will be a band like the beatles.
i also didn't think much about them i used to think, "just some gay hippie band talking about love and peace with corny lyrics" then i turned 15 and reached the age of reason. bands like this, jimi hendrix experience, the doors, Bob dylan, are real artists.
great thread and repped

in terms of talent you don't beat the beatles, jimi was the best guitaris, dylan was the best writer, keith moon/John Bonham were the best drummers (arguably Neil Peart) but the beatles were the whole package they would be the fedor or GSP of the music world

True... I Love The Beatles Not The Bealtes by The Way... Pokes at Title... But Seriously.. You Look At What They Mean To Music, No Doubt Theyre Amazing.. Like Chronoligically Its TOTALLY Mindblowing Considering That by The Time The Beatles Where Through, All These Bands Started Gaining Some Form of Fame where It Be The Pink Floyd (1971 breakout year), Led Zeppelin (1969 breakout Year), Thin Lizzy (1976 Breakout Year), King Crimson (1968 Breakout Year), David Bowie (1972/1971 Arguably Breakout Year), Nick Drake (1969) And So On.. THESE ARE REAL HEAVY BANDS/ARTISTS and The Beatles Had Already Come and Gone When These Guys Were Basically Starting Off..
That Being Said The ONLY Bands I Personally Feel The Beatles didn't Immediately Spawn was The KINKS - The Davies Bros. Had Hits Already In 1964 On Through The Latter 60s, The VELVET UNDERGROUND - Which I Feel Had A Bigger Impact on Song Content Than Even The Beatles.. You Look At THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO Album and You See That Lou Reed Was Already A Brilliant Writer at About The Time that The Beatles Ditched The Solely LOVE Concept (1967/1966 arguably) which are Obviously The Beatles GREATEST YEARS and THE WHO which Had Their OWN Style Separate From The Beatles.. Louder, More Agressive and Rightfully So With People Like Keith Moon Around The ONLY Speed Is FAST!!!!!!!!
BEST BEATLES ALBUM - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band / Rubber Soul / Help!
Best Beatle - Sir James Paul McCartney!!!!
Favorite Beatles Song - When I'm 64
Best Beatles Era - 1966/1967

True Early Bowie Was Great But After He Hooked Up With Eno It Wasnt My Cup of Tea.. EVEN THOUGH I Do PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT Brian Eno's "Here Come The Warm Jets" is Possibly One of the 10 Best LP's I've EVER HEARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But Yeah, Bowie and John Lennon Now Thats A Pair...

.. John's solo work is brilliant. The stones are a completely different band with a completely different sound and mission. I can't believe people still say that shit about Yoko when it was Paul who left the Beatles. That is why they broke up.
