This is pretty fucking weak. I didn't even expect this from a guy like Chris Simon. Hollweg is alright, a couple stitches and he stayed on the bench. If you watch the whole video, near the end the announcer says "I think he's going to get 5 minutes" How about getting Life in Prison?

P.S. Simon suspended indefinately... until a hearing with the league. In Simons defense he was rocked hard and I don't think he was thinking straight after the hit... I know that when I get my bell rung it's hard for me not to over react and in an intense game like the one last night... still no excuse but I kinda understand why he might've done it

i agree,i didn't see the game but i'm sure rangers\islanders rivalry is intense right now with huge playoff implications on the game.no exuse but there's been uglier incidents in history.

Chopping a guy in the face is much worst that what Bertuzzi did imo. Now don't get me wrong, Bertuzzi deserved the suspension and everything but the only reason it's such a big deal is because of the result (long term injury) he was just pissed off and wanted to fight while Moore wouldn't fight him. A sucker punch is bad but hitting a guy in the face with a stick is much worst.

i agree, moore was running around like a little bitch taunting the canucks.the guy accepts a fight with the smallest player then taunts and runs away from anyone his size,i'm not saying what bertuzzi did was right but if moore would just fight him and get it over with it wouldn't have hapened.

I agree that hitting a player with your stick is worse than sucker punching a guy... that being said what Bertuzzi did was a lot worse in my opinion than what Simon did.

Reason 1 - It was premeditated... they planned to attack Moore and followed through ending his career
Reason 2 - Bertuzzi's State of mind... he was being a thug out looking for revenge, he was thinking clearly and was in all effects hunting steve moore all night
Reason 3 - Simon's State of mind... Chris Simon is clearly out of it after a borderline dirty hit and anybody who has ever had a concussion can agree with me when I say that a concussion (mil dor severe) severely limits your judgement
Reason 4 - Player profiles... Simon/Hullweg are both known to be questionable hockey players but are both tough guys.... Moore/Bertuzzi... Moore is 180lbs and not known as being a dirty player (one semi-questionable hit does not make you a dirty player) Bertuzzi is a common thug, he's dirty, he runs people, he barely ever fights unless it's with somebody a lot smaller than him
Reason 5 - Moore's career is over, Hullweg is fine

I agree that stick infractions are usually more serious than a sucker punch but I think in this case you can see that the Bertuzzi incident is a lot worse than a split second reaction from a clearly Out of his Wits hockey player

Also I don't think Steve Moore should have to fight Bertuzzi (the biggest guy on the team) fighting Cooke or Ruutu is fine

To use a comparison Ruutu used to run top players on other teams (still does in Pitts) and would never ever accept a fight with anybody even 1lb heavier than him, same can be said for Matt Cooke (although he's sopped taking huge runs as of late)

I don't think we can categorize Steve Moore in the little bitch category for not wanting to fight Bertuzzi (would you fight Bertuzzi?)

A lot of Canucks fans try to justify the attack on Moore by saying "Eye for an Eye" Moore hits Naslund so Bertuzzi sucker punches him so it's all even... But really the incident played out as "A wrist for a neck" or "A couple weeks for a lifetime"

And saying that it was the fall to the ice that broke his neck and not the punch so it's not Bertuzzi's fault is one of the most ignorant comments in the history of the world (I'm saying that anybody on here is claiming that) but I've heard it so many times it makes me sick.

I like watching Bertuzzi play hockey so I'm glad he got reinstated but a part of me still wishes Todd never plays another hockey game in his life. Minus the Marty McSorley stick swinging... the Bertuzzi sucker punch was in my opinion the most disgusting act of human cruelty I've ever seen during a hockey game
