Was my birth day yesterday and I'm trying to make resolutions to keep this year.

Long story short had an awesome day with the wife. And then went to train BJJ for the first time in over two years. Felt great.

I started my BJJ yesterday. First class was hard as hell. I had to roll with every guy there for 3 minutes with a 1 minute break. About 8 guys. Not to mention the 100 pull ups and 500 sit ups that I could barely hang with after letting my conditioning go for way too long. Only did 65 pull ups so maybe I owe some.

I know it's been 15 years since I wrestled and 8 years since I rolled BJJ but I didn't imagine I would suck this bad.

The instruction seems to be at a high level and there are a good mixture of young guys and semi-pro fighters there so I if I put the work in I should learn a lot.

I thought I went pretty soft yesterday but I haven't been able to straighten my arms out today yet. This morning I could only go around 90% with my left and 130% with my right but now it's a lot better. I lost some skin from my foot and it looks like I have hickeys too.

I hope to toughen up quickly so the training doesn't mess me up at work too much in the future.

It feels good to finally be out there doing it!

I finally straightened my arms out all the way today. The top of my foot still bleeds through my sock from the whole starting on your knees stuff. But I think I'll be ready to go back and get the beat down in a day or two.

And congrats to you other guys on starting training too. Hope it's cool that I gravytrained on this thread.

Finally got back for day two of BJJ practice. Had to ditch a work meeting and pay a fine but I didn't want to go a week without training.

We practiced various things including the gogoplata. In the sparring session I even tapped a guy out with a gogoplata. That felt great. There were two guys newer than me so I got some taps and didn't get shut out like last week. It's rude to brag about such things so to prove I'm not bragging I'll admit that I still got tapped at a ratio of about 8-1.

After practice some guy blew chunks in the toilet and a girl who trains there was complaining so I offered to clean it and when I started I was soo exhausted that I threw up too. And then cleaned it and mopped the mat.
