I'm just wondering if anybody else tracks what they eat on a day in, day out basis. I'm wondering what your reasons for or against are.
I began tracking my calories 5 years ago when I was overweight and it just stuck with me. It was a pain in the ass at first but now it's almost easier to enter them into my computer than it is not to enter them.
If you track your calories on your computer which program do you use???

I really don't think body fat has much to do with cardio unless you're significantly overweight. I'm usually about 170 lbs, but yesterday I weighed in at 185 and did my same cardio routine with no more difficulty than usual. I think the best way to get better cardio for rolling is to just spar for long periods of time.

I don't have a formal way to calculate, or a program that I follow. I was "overweight" after college, I weight about 210 and I had a fat ass belly. I bascially lost it all and toned up by following a few simple rules:
1) NO FAST FOOD, NO FRIED FOOD. NO EXCEPTIONS.
2) NO SODA, NO SUGAR DRINKS (this includes Gatorade- it has just as much High Fructose Corn Syrup as pop. Drink water or natural fruit drinks)
3) NO BAD FAT (trans fat, limited sat fat) NO BAD SUGAR (High Fructose Syrup is not real sugar. Your body doens't know how to metabolize it.)
4) LEAN PROTIEN, FRESH GREEN VEGIES, FRESH FRUIT EVERYDAY.
5) MAYONAISE, SALAD DRESSING and GRAVY are HIGH AS FUCK in bad fat. Don't eat them, or eat reduced fat versions.
For breakfast I eat sometype of whole wheat cereal or oatmeal w/ orange juice and an apple and/or bannana.
For Lunch it's some type of organic soup with lots of veggies. Boiled egg whites for protein. Turkey sandwich maybe... A Kashi bar (protien and fiber from nuts and oats.)
For dinner it's a meal. Lean meat (chicken breasts, turkey fillet, pork chop, white fish), steamed veggies and some rice.
Repeat each day...
ps.. my girl lost 30 lbs and got in good shape doing weight watchers. I don't like their emphasis on "processed" or "fake" foods that are low in fat, but if you follow the program and weigh your portions then it will work.

When I drop weight I follow this simple rule -
if it has more than 3g Fat per 100 calories don't eat it.

I drink lots of water and stay away from the really bad stuff and it seems to be working for me. I also try and eat 5 smaller meals per day versus one or two big meals
I also dont count but try to follow some basic principles like, fruit or vegetable every meal, complete protein source every meal, and small mealls 5-6 times a day. just generally try to make the healthy choices like wheat bread lean meats exc.
