There's some punching bags here as well. resistance bands Pwn..punch with wrist weights on also. sean damon 02-04-2007, 08:59 PM punching power comes from good technique. the best way to increase punching power is to work on punching. Jason 02-05-2007, 12:54 AM punching power comes from good technique. the best way to increase punching power is to work on punching. u r correct sir Jae 02-05-2007, 05:02 AM yea like what the two above said, just work on your form, it'll help develop muscle memory too. using wrist weights for punching is mostly for developing speed/quickness too erskine777 02-05-2007, 07:35 AM someone told me to just hold a textbook against the wall using your fist and getting in your striking stance and hold it for as long as you can and that'll tax your punching muscles a lot. I do it occasionally but i'd rather just punch a heavy bag or something. Tom Stall 02-06-2007, 02:45 AM dont use wrist weights... Jae 02-07-2007, 07:06 AM Matt Serra, can you elaborate please? thanks! Blunt Object 02-07-2007, 07:20 AM hmmm Asimov 02-07-2007, 07:22 AM Its not good to use wrist weights or ankle weights. Asimov 02-07-2007, 07:24 AM Some people use hand and ankle weights – but that’s really not the healthiest way to load your body – it puts too much stress on the extremities and can alter your natural stride and spinal alignment. ninjashoes 02-07-2007, 12:04 PM Heavy bag Speed bag Double bag also practice good technique Asimov 02-07-2007, 12:07 PM Heavy bag Speed bag Double bag also practice good technique Genetics. Heavy bag. Techinque and accuracy are the most important.. Cause some people are just born with KO power ala Kid yamamoto, Mike Tyson, zambidis, Liddell. Etc. usho 02-07-2007, 11:36 PM You can work on your muscle endurance by doing complexes. beetsh 02-08-2007, 08:33 PM i also heard wrist weights were a bad idea when punching - due to the possibility of overextending because of the evtra weight. i reckon they'd be good for relaxed shadow boxing though to help keepyour guard up and strengthen the muscles involved. rebornpro 02-08-2007, 09:27 PM yeah for me it was the heavy bag, i worked on my footwork generating the force form my legs and now the power is there. unit 02-09-2007, 04:13 AM i've heard that the major reason for not using wrist weights is cause it leads to bad technique. makes sense, especially on a pull back. practice proper technique and you should be on a good start. hit the heavy bag to develop some power and watch your technique. don't forget to twist your hips for proper power. hand speed will come with a speed bag and the double end bag. stamina comes with running. skipping rope will also help. Asimov 02-09-2007, 05:02 AM and make sure, that you twist your wrist right before you connect with the opponents head or body. About 70% of power is genetic though..The rest is techinque, and accuracy.. omegatron 02-10-2007, 11:12 PM 100% of your power I believe comes from technique. Remember to throw from the ground and your feet/hips, look at the way Fedor throws his hooks he sort of whips his arms while turning his body. Heavy bags work good but punching trees are better. sean damon 02-10-2007, 11:18 PM 100% of your power I believe comes from technique. Remember to throw from the ground and your feet/hips, look at the way Fedor throws his hooks he sort of whips his arms while turning his body. Heavy bags work good but punching trees are better. yea go punch some trees and see how long your hands last ya. thats bad advice man. theres so many bones in your hand its not worth it to take a chance at punching a tree dude. Cung-Le 02-16-2007, 06:49 AM What About strengthing your shins? My teacher told my club to roll a big stick over it every day and it would "some how" make it stronger. Thoughts? Asimov 02-16-2007, 07:54 AM What About strengthing your shins? My teacher told my club to roll a big stick over it every day and it would "some how" make it stronger. Thoughts? Hitting the bag hard with your shins, conditions them pretty well.. but take it easy, or you will be in pain the next day. and the stick isn't a bad idea either. Reverse calf raises works out the muscles in your shins..like step on the edge of the board, and then raise your toes towards your shin, and do a couple of reps like that. SmokinGunz 02-16-2007, 08:31 AM THE MAIN THING IS TO WORK ON YOUR TECHNIQUE. YOU GET A LOT OF POWER FROM YOUR PUNCHES BY PUTTING YOUR BODYWEIGHT BEHIND THEM AND HAVING GOOD FOOTWORK. I DO MEDICINE BALL DRILLS. THAT HELPS A LOT TO. Hater_Huntin 02-16-2007, 03:27 PM Practicing good technique is always a plus. Make sure you're technique is proper and just do it over and over and over. There really are no shortcuts here. rebornpro 02-18-2007, 05:38 PM yah just keep punching and the power will come BrownMan 02-18-2007, 06:08 PM punch a lot...seriously, no better way vBulletin® v3.7.4, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. |
