I got a belly going on. Any advice on how to flatten it? Do I need to run first, and then do some sit ups? Or is doing sit ups the fastest way to flatten it?

Pcmaker 01-29-2007, 08:03 AM I don't have a training schedule. None whatsoever. I want to start out fresh, too. CHE 01-29-2007, 09:10 AM diet has a big part of it also. Asimov 01-29-2007, 09:18 AM Don't eat junk food! You can do a million of ab crunches, and still not see any abs..You have to eat healthy, do alot of sprinting excersizes, and cardio.. Just have to stop eating junk foods, and go on a diet.. Diet is number 1 for a six pack. Cuz if you workout normally, you will have a six pack, unfortunatley alot of men like to eat junk food, and etc, and the six pack is under the fat..You need alot of motivation as well. Do it man, you can do it. deegs 01-29-2007, 09:24 AM i thought you were jacked, pcmaker? unless those pics you posted were of a different strapping young lad? I think having that 4 hours after dinner then 8-9 hours of sleep gives you alot of time where your stomach is empty and you burn your bodies fat because theres no food being digested. deegs 01-29-2007, 12:20 PM ;320765']nah even if you look at the pic you could see he might be getting a beer belly :) i didn't stare THAT closely... Titanium 01-29-2007, 04:02 PM Abdominal exercises (sit-ups, crunches, etc) do very little to give you a "6-pack". In fact you have a 6-pack now but you can't see it due to the layer of fat over it. The only thing that ab exercises will do is burn a relatively small amount of calories and make your abs bigger so they can stick out through the excess fat a little more (and thats only when you use weight and lower reps: 10-15). The only way to get abs is to burn more calories than you eat. Here are my suggestions: 1) Eliminate all junkfood and excess calories from your diet (sorry, that means beer too). Namely white bread, sugar, etc 2) Focus your training on lifting weights and cardio. The weight lifting will burn calories as well as develop more muscle which will increase your metabolism and make it much easier to burn calories. Cardio should be done every day, 30 min to 1 hour each day. 3) Drink white or green tea (2-4 cups a day). The anti-oxident content will improve your overall health and make it easier to burn fat. Loose tea is better for you than the stuff in bags. 4) Take a vitamin/mineral supplement daily to ensure that your body is not lacking anything that would slow your progress. 5) Drink lots of Ice water. Not only does your body need water to burn the fat, it will also burn a significant number of calories heating the cold water up to body temperature. 6) Try eating spicy foods that raise your metabolism but not spicy/fatty foods (like hot wings). 7) Don't starve yourself because you will only decrease your muscle mass which in turn will lower your metabolism and make it harder to burn fat. 8) Eat more fiberous vegetables and lean protein. The vegetables will fill you up and decrease the calories that you consume during the day. The protein will help in two main ways. It will help with muscle recovery that is necessary due to the exercise and it will also contribute less calories to your body than carbs and fat. In fact, protein is more difficult to digest than the other two and burns about 25% more calories in digesting it. For example, 100 calories from fat or carbs equals almost 100 calories while 100 calories from protein accounts for only about 75 calories. 9) When eating your meals, eat the veges first, the protein next and the carbs last to ensure that you finish the food types in order of benefit. 10) Stick to the plan. If you get off track just get back on. Don't go too hardcore that you get sick of it and quit. 11) Eat smaller meals to make you feel more full throughout the day 12) Take an essential fatty acid supplement daily. 13) After some time you may consider getting a fat loss supplement but at first get the basics going and take it from there. By the way, the theory of not eating at night is bullshit imo (even though many people believe it). If you eat the same amount of calories a day and burn the same amount of calories a day you will get equal results). People who stop eating at night may get results because they eat less over the course of a day. Thats all I can think of now. Good luck with it. Pcmaker 01-30-2007, 02:17 AM Thanks, guys. When your tired and hungry you will eat whatever you see/want and its usually not good for you. having the discipline enough not to eat at night is a good step and will make you feel better when you first wake up. You will feel like your already on track. Cung-Le 02-16-2007, 07:00 AM What about after an cardio work out? can we reward our selves wit a big dinner? or no?
