If I go I will be video taping you. You can really make it onto YouTube this time. We will send a copy to emmet or whatever his name is.

I'll try to go and I'll tell Rd and whoever else wants to go to come along. We can be the Ninjabros cheering section. You'll know us by our Shane West masks.

This event was very cool IMO. It was small enough for me to be front row and see every match well. The finals were outside which was perfect for such a beautiful California day.

There were men, women, and kids competing. Fom noobs to Abu Dhabi champs. It was mostly Gene Lebell and Gokor's students and a handful of other grapplers from various CA schools.

I got a chance to meet Gokor and take a picture with Gene Lebell.

This was my first time attending a no gi tournament and I found it to be even more exciting than regular BJJ tournaments. The rules made for fast pace, aggressive action. The first round was no points. Only submissions to win. After that there were points given for round two and even more liberal points given for the third round.

It was small and comfortable enough for even noobs to enter and feel comfortable. I recommend to anyone that likes watching or competing in these things to think about going to the next one. It's on the website. I think it's in April.

Oh yeah, it was cool watching Xhale do his thing. And especially cool to watch him coaching a kid through some rubber guard techniques in the kid's match.

"MISSION CONTROL!!!" "PLANT HIS ARM!!!"

I also saw a sweet omoplata.

yah man i really appreciated it that you showed up... im glad you had a good time.

there are no points in the thrid round... if its tied after the second then it first takedown/throw wins.

185 advanced mens finals was between an ADCC qualifier (ill try to get his name) and one of Gokors best students (who was 19 years old)

first round the teen was in BIIIIIG trouble from this leg lock master who finished all of his 5 fights with leg locks, but the kid pulled through and was able to survive the 2nd round.

2nd round started and the ADCC qualifier had the nicest double leg of the tourney, taking the kid to the mat with little effort. since he ended up in side control he was awarded a 2 point take down, and many thought was going to win the fight based on points.

the teen was able to escape from side control into a neutral position (standing up is considered neutral) and was awarded 1 point.

1 min left and the teen is down 2-1

the hand wrestle for a bit and the teen pulled out with one of the nicest iriguchi(sp?) throws iv seen... perfect technique, perfect balance, the ADCC quali had no chance... ends up a neutral position for 1 point (which sucks because if he would have ended up in side mount he would have won the tourney.

tied 2-2 with 10 secs to go... kid cant pull off anything, wasnt able to pass guard, and the adcc quali couldnt do anything either due to great posture by the teen.

sudden death 2min round.

after clinching for a while and numerous attempts by the adcc quali to try and stuff a takedown to win the tourney, the teen attempts another iriguchi throw, almost pulls it off but ends up not being to follow through, and the ADCC qualifier ended up on top for the takedown and win.

that kid did great and im sure he will be a monster in a few years... from what i hear hes a great boxer too.

yah man i was so surprised to see these little kids utilizing the rubber guard. earlier before you came there was a guy trying to use the rubber guard, but was using the wrong hand to control his opponent. i yelled "MISSION CONTROL" and the whole place was silence.. everyone freakin looked at me and shit.. but the guy knew exactly what i was talking about and eventually sweeped his opponent for the win.

thanks for the t-shirt!!

Don't mess with Xhale (on the right) when he gets that look in his eyes.
