im an avalanche fan and forsberg is one of my favorite players ever, along with lemieux. so needless to say i was hurt when he left, especially to philly where i hate every sports team from philly. i hope he lands on a contender tho and helps them win it(as long as its not vancouver or detroit)

Good post, I hate teams from Philly as well, especially the Flyers. I'm glad you listed Van as a team you don't want Forsberg to go to. Don't worry about that one, Vancouver is so tight against the cap they can barely afford to bring up players from the minors.

The #1 choice is Hamilton I think, but there are a few other cities in Ontario that are thought to be good places to put a team (can't remember the names right now)

The Winnipeg flop was over 10 years ago and Winnipeg is the only city with a ready to go NHL arena, I wouldn't overlook Winnipeg as a future market for an NHL team, but it probably won't happen

Forsberg when healthy is definitely the best player in the nhl. He's the swedish Mario in my opinion, he plays only 30-45 games a year and is still in the top 40 in scoring, only Mario Lemieux could pull something like that off

I agree, I'd really like for him to sign with the AVS next year and retire there. I think he will end up going to the Rangers. Montreal would be a nice fit but bringing a player like Forsberg into a dressing room like Calgary or Buffalo (two teams that are really rolling) could casue more harm than help.

I think Calgary is going to get Conroy back for the playoffs (what a mistake it was letting him go) If Calgary gets Conroy they will be my pick to make it to the finals from the west.

Edmonton did prove that anything is possible... if you have the goaltending and Chris Pronger. I don't think Colorado has the goaltending or the defence to make a huge run in the playoffs.

But you never know with Jose, he could catch fire in the last half of the season

I think Calgary is one of the best teams in the west... in my opinion it's Kiprusoff that's over rated (he's a great goalie but not as good as people make him out to be)

Do you live in Canada? Because TSN has a great trade deadline show on the final day of trading (The 2007 NHL trade deadline is Tuesday, February 27 at 3pm et/Noon pt)

I don't know how many big trades will be featured this year but the show is really great and I recommend everybody who get's TSN mark their calendars.

I agree... plus teams that are still in the playoff hunt (barely) will have to retain their players and once they fall out of the playoff picture they still have the talent to really play spoiler down the stretch

That's true.

I'm a huge Anti-Canuck fan so anything I say about the Canucks can be taken with a grain of salt. I don't know why I hate them so much I just do. It has a lot to do with John Garrett and the way he sucks off every Canuck before during and after most games.

Anyways, I'm just bitter because the Canucks are still winning 50% of their games and Edm/Col are really sucking hard.

Wild send Dupuis to the Rangers for Adam Hall. I thought this was a salary cap move but Hall is making more than Dupuis. I read that the Wild are looking to add grit for the playoffs but I really like the play of Dupuis. Curious to see how this move plays out and to see who it helps more.

Preds send Vasicek back to the Canes for Eric Belanger. Both are $1.3 million players and Vasicek was a part of the Canes run last year (even though he was banged up a lot) but the thing I'd like about this trade if I were a huge Preds fan is the fact that Eric Belanger is 53.4% in the face off circle this season, adding to the Nashville Predators already strong face off game.

We have all seen how face offs help in the playoffs (Caroline in game 2 vs NJ last year) and Nashville is already spectacular. As long as Vokoun stays healthy Nashville might be the team to beat in the West.

I have Zdeno Chara in my hockey pool, Boston really needs to start picking up their game this is getting a little ridiculous
