Former heavyweight contender Lou Savarese (45-6, 37 KOs) returned from a ten month layoff to destroy Travis Fulton (15-17, 15 KOs) in three rounds on Thursday night at the Houston Grand Plaza. After a sluggish round one, the 41-year-old Savarese floored Fulton three times in round two, first with a huge right hand, the second time with a combination of shots, and again with a combination of head and body punches. The demolition continued in round three as Big Lou floored Fulton for the fourth time with a wicked kidney shot. After a final savage combination of blows, the battered Fulton sunk to one knee and referee Barry Yates waved it off at the 1:31 mark.

After the fight, Savarese told Fightnews "I felt my performance was adequate. I wanted to get some rounds in. I could have knocked him out in the first round." He added that he was inspired to make this comeback after seeing Shannon Briggs claim a heavyweight world title. "No disrespect to Shannon, but after seeing him do it, I feel like I can win a heavyweight title, too."

Ahh...well can't say I'm surprised.
