Too many teams in the AFC worry me: Chargers, Colts etc.. The Giants won it all, but it will be extremely hard to peak the way they did again. They reminded me a bit of the Patriots in '01. The '02 Patriots went 9-7 and missed the playoffs despite winning their division. The NFC will be improving this offseason for sure, and many teams that were supposed to do well this year in the NFC didn't do well at all. It is very unpredictable. bigbadroy 02-23-2008, 04:13 AM the giants were a cinderella team this past season. and killa i just think terry has nothing left bigbadroy 02-23-2008, 06:38 AM you heard the g-men might get d. hall... we'll see you pats in the superbowl again next year  Clayton on NFL Live said that the Giants #31 pick in round one will not be enough to get Hall. He suggested a First and a third may get it done. Clayton also mentioned that four other teams are interested. He said teams picking higher would have a better chance of getting Hall. IMO, we have the most firepower, if we want to get Hall. MMAsterkillah 02-23-2008, 06:56 AM If Asante is leaving we could dish our #7 pick for Hall. :sifone: Hall is going to play 1 year with his rookie salary. bigbadroy 02-23-2008, 09:03 PM If Asante is leaving we could dish our #7 pick for Hall. :sifone: Hall is going to play 1 year with his rookie salary. yeah but after that hall said he's gonna be looking for 10 mill a year. if any cb is worth 10 mill a year it's not d hall that's for sure MMAsterkillah 02-23-2008, 09:05 PM yeah but after that hall said he's gonna be looking for 10 mill a year. if any cb is worth 10 mill a year it's not d hall that's for sure Yeah I wasn't being serious... Goddamn Drew Rosenhaus fucked us out of Zach Thomas. Dan Morgan?? Wandy4LIFE 02-23-2008, 09:07 PM I'll take Danny Morgan although I was really banking on brining in Zach. I just thought Zach would be a perfect fit on New England with Seau, Bruschi, and Adalius but hopefully we can add some depth through the draft or free agency. What other MLB's are out there besides Morgan now? bigbadroy 02-23-2008, 10:04 PM i heard the cowboys have been talking with the falcons at the combine about a trade. here's the latest rumor Update II: There’s a rumor gaining steam in the threads, apparently seen on ESPN (can anybody confirm?) that would break down like this: Dallas gives up: pick 22 it’s 4th rounder, 122nd Anthony Henry Akin Ayodele Atlanta would give up: D’Angelo Hall the 37th pick (6th in round two) the 48th pick (17th in round two) Consider this: Akin Ayodele played at Jacksonville as a 4-3 OLB for defensive coordinator Mike Smith. The same Mike Smith who is Atlanta’s new head coach. I tend to take rumors like this with a grain of salt, but this one appears to have a bit more juice than most. Wandy4LIFE 02-23-2008, 10:53 PM Damn I would have to say thats a good deal for Dallas if that goes through. Not many teams are going to get downfield on Newman and Hall and with Zach Thomas Akin Ayodele becomes expendable. Bringing in the two second rounders also dominates. I would probably trade 22 for 37 and 48 so if they bring in DeAngelo for Akin, Henry, and a 4th thats a steal. bigbadroy 02-23-2008, 10:57 PM Damn I would have to say thats a good deal for Dallas if that goes through. Not many teams are going to get downfield on Newman and Hall and with Zach Thomas Akin Ayodele becomes expendable. Bringing in the two second rounders also dominates. I would probably trade 22 for 37 and 48 so if they bring in DeAngelo for Akin, Henry, and a 4th thats a steal. just offseason speculation as of now but i agree it would be interesting to say the least. just found this rumor on asante samuel This is per KFFL.com Patriots | Samuel looking for 10-year contract Sat, 23 Feb 2008 12:15:11 -0800 Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots CB Asante Samuel, who will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, is reportedly looking for a 10-year contract worth $100 million. He is also looking for $30 million guaranteed up front. Wandy4LIFE 02-23-2008, 11:04 PM Asante trying to make more than Tom Brady? He can take a hike if he's looking for that kind of money. I think he's a great player and all but a $30 guaranteed contract looking for 100 mil total is ridiculous especially after dropping that sure interception that cost us the Superbowl. Pats should let him walk if hes going to be that selfish. With the 7th pick I'd want Golston but if Samuel left I'd lean Talib. bigbadroy 02-25-2008, 03:00 AM http://i.a.cnn.net/si/multimedia/photo_gallery/0704/gallery.nfl.2008.draft.candids/images/gholston.jpg yo does he look like he's a roider? HipnotiK 02-25-2008, 06:12 AM honestly who isn't using something in professional sports? NFL testing is a joke, everyone uses something to a degree whether it be over the counter supplements or HGH or roids... as a spectator and fan i'd rather just not think or care about it... let 'em play ball MMAsterkillah 02-25-2008, 07:34 AM honestly who isn't using something in professional sports? NFL testing is a joke, everyone uses something to a degree whether it be over the counter supplements or HGH or roids... as a spectator and fan i'd rather just not think or care about it... let 'em play ball Please explain to me how NFL drug testing is a joke? Guys are tested multiple times a year, without warning. If you take HGH you can get away with it anywhere, anyhow, unless they have the right to take blood tests, which aren't allowed in nearly any arena. Vernon Gholston did do 37 reps, and Sedrick Ellis did 34. Rush ends Lawrence Jackson and Derrick Harvey each had 31 reps each, respectively. bigbadroy 02-26-2008, 09:37 PM In a move that appears to be salary-cap related, the Patriots are expected to release outside linebacker Rosevelt Colvin today, according to a league source. Colvin, a marquee free-agent signing in 2002, was scheduled to count $7.6 million against the salary cap and earn a base salary of $5.5 million. The 2008 season was the final year of his contract. Colvin was a starter at outside linebacker in the Patriots 3-4 scheme. His 2007 season was cut short by a foot injury sustained Nov. 25 against the Eagles, and the Patriots seemed to miss his pass rush coming down the stretch. The 31-year-old Colvin was credited by the teams coaches with 28 tackles last season, while adding four sacks. With Tedy Bruschi and Junior Seau scheduled for unrestricted free agency, the Patriots have the following personnel under contract at linebacker for 2008: Eric Alexander (2008, exclusive rights free agent) Larry Izzo (2008, verbal agreement confirmed by agent Drew Rosenhaus) T.J. Slaughter (2008) Pierre Woods (2008, exclusive rights free agent) Mike Vrabel (2009) Oscar Lua (2010) Adalius Thomas (2011) lools like belicheat wants the roider from ohio state MMAsterkillah 02-26-2008, 10:33 PM It was obvious Colvin would be released, but it is disappointing to see him go. He has a big-time attitude (in a good way) and added a lot of intensity to the defense. That said, he could never stay healthy, and is not worth anything close to what we would have needed to give him... I really hope we end up with Gholston, though. MMAsterkillah 02-29-2008, 01:20 AM Ty Law was at the Celts last night, and he mentioned he wants to win at this point in his career, and genuinely seemed interested in the Patriots. That said, Ty has always gone where the money is, so who knows. But he does have good memories and family here. The Patriots have very good cap room right now. I know we don't want to overspend on any ONE player ala Asante, but we are in a decent position to sign some guys even though we do have an aging defense and Randy Moss to sign, still. Very surprisingly, and I doubt anything comes of it, but I have heard D. Hall and Lance Briggs mentioned as possibilities because the Pats know they need speed. Also, Junior Seau had rotator cuff surgery. His future is uncertain. MMAsterkillah 02-29-2008, 02:46 AM Patriots reportedly just re-signed Tedy Bruschi. Good insurance, hopefully we gave him less that 3 mill a year. bigbadroy 02-29-2008, 04:59 AM Patriots reportedly just re-signed Tedy Bruschi. Good insurance, hopefully we gave him less that 3 mill a year. interesting how old is he gonna be next season? MMAsterkillah 02-29-2008, 06:15 AM interesting how old is he gonna be next season? He'll be 35. The guy was one of the game's better MLBs for a 2-3 year span. He was very quick and could hit pretty well. Right now he has average speed and is not a hitter at all. That said, he has great play recognition and can usually take ball carriers down somehow. I would honestly prefer to have Bruschi as our #3 MLB. He led the Patriots in tackles, but honestly, a good portion of them are assisted. His leadership is a key reason why he will be back next year, and probably beyond. Also, I should have mentioned this days ago, but as expected, we declined the extension of my favorite special teamer Kelley Washington, whom we are in negotiations with to bring back. He didn't produce as a WR for us at all this year, but I'd expect us to use either Gaffney, Chad Jackson or Washington a lot next year whether Moss returns or not (PLEASE GOD, WE NEED MOSS!) Prior to the Bruschi signing, the Patriots had about $25 million in cap room; terms of that deal were undisclosed. Randall Gay has just become an unrestricted free agent as well if I am correct. LATEST REPORT: Patriots just reached an agreement with Kelley Washington. Randy Moss seemingly doesn't have an agreement in place, but we will see. I even just heard that we are still talking to Donte Stallworth and expecting/hoping that Moss signs because of our good nature (We didn't franchise him because we didn't want to anger him). Teams may offer $10 mill a year, but we won't match it, so we have to hope he really wants to play with Tommy and crew. Asante will certainly be leaving. Which is terrible, likely to Philly. Lito Shepherd? This is a very interesting, but nerve wracking time. As long as we can bring back Randy I will have the utmost confidence in our front office. MMAsterkillah 03-03-2008, 05:00 AM Unofficial CURRENT Patriots Team Roster... We still have 22 mil in cap space, the #7 overall pick, and 4 first day picks. Gave the Pats a fantastic hometown discount... $1.2M signing bonus, $1M 2008 salary, $1.9M 2009 salary. I also heard John Clayton call Eugene Wilson a "very good safety" and said the Pats should of re-signed him. He must have not watched this guy since his second season. Wilson couldn't even get on the field anymore at all. Clayton needs to watch more football. Also, Kyle Brady is going to be gone... maybe we could bring in Bubba Franks as a situational blocking TE. Rodgers-Cromartie said that he has met with the Patriots and that it went well, even though the team put him on the spot. "They were the first team that made me draw something up with them, do something like that. It threw me off-guard a little bit," said Rodgers-Cromartie. "I was expecting to answer personal questions like everybody else was asking me and then you get 'Draw a defense up for me' and it threw me off guard." MMAsterkillah 03-03-2008, 08:08 PM 3 year $27 million for Moss I am hearing/seeing. Pats also signed special teamer WR Sam Aiken (a former 4th rder from the Bills). MMAsterkillah 03-04-2008, 02:51 AM yea. just saying what i heard not that it was truth or anything. Oh, I know... Clayton has been saying that BS for 2 days, I've seen it 100x. I was just trying to inform you that if Clayton doesn't have any inside info, he will basically completely reach to make it look like he has some. And thanks BBR, NFL does PWN. MMAsterkillah 03-04-2008, 03:57 AM "I want to take time out to thank all of the fans for their support and for wishing me well in my return to New England," Moss wrote. "I'm ready to get back. We have some unfinished business to take care of." "What Randy did for our team last year was outstanding," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a statement. "He is one of our most consistent, competitive and team-oriented players and it is undoubtedly a relationship we are excited to continue." The Boston Herald is reporting that Randy Moss came within a hair of signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Quoting a source, the newspaper's Web site said that Moss and the Eagles negotiated throughout the weekend and that Philadelphia thought it had him locked down at one point. MMAsterkillah 03-05-2008, 08:47 PM Patriots give a big "FUCK YOU" to the same journalists who idiotically smeared them. It seems there are interesting things going on in Foxboro. NE has TOTALLY shut ESPN out. NE is refusing to talk with or even allow anyone within the organization to communicate with even the few people at ESPN NE trusts which includes Berman and Jaws. Clayton and others are very frustrated. Similar problems exist for Peter King at Sports Illustrated. People and players within the organization he formally had relationships with have turned a blind eye to his text messages, emails and cell phone messages. King is very frustrated. A few people at NE will talk with Banks but King is persona non grata in Foxboro. King contacted the NFL and was told it was his problem since the media develops thier own relationships and if they lose them tough cookies. They have done something similar but not quite as complete with the Herald. Tomase is absolutely shut out and could lose his Pats beat since NOBODY will talk with him. No players, coaches or team officals will even aknowledge him. Karen G has some access but it is limited. NE continues to communicate with people at the NFL Network such as Adam Shefter and Mike Mayock which is why Shefter had inside info on Moss deal. This was the reason NE gave Mike Reis the BB interview with the globe and shut everyone else out. This is not just a BB thing but comes from the Kraft family down. NE is also very upset with the NFL over the handling of Walsh. NE is refusing to give Walsh blanket immunity because they know he has violated both state and federal law and they have the proof. If he gets blanket immunity they will not be able to use this info in the NE defense. Corporate Lawyers for NE and a noted Mass legal eagle feel NE is in the drivers seat with Walsh. This is why Mr Walsh and his attorney have been very quiet lately. They were provided with a partial copy of what NE has on him. Oops!!! The only fly in the ointment here is some insiders are worried Ernie Adams might have done something with Walsh and this has put some strain on the BB/Adams relationship from limited observations. This is one reason Capers was brought in. The BB statement about never looking at or authorizing that taping seems to have a lot of validity within organization. All the coaches from back then, both still here and those gone, are willing to testify they have never heard of nor seen such a tape. This includes Crennel, Ryan at Oakland who were here then and believe it or not Eric the Rat although I'm not sure what he did back then nor if NE would trust him. http://boards.espn.go.com/boards/mb/mb?sport=nfl&id=nwe&tid=2448558&lid=45 This is an interesting thread on the ESPN Pats message board started by someone calling themselves NEInsider. Obviously, this is completely unsubstantiated. But I thought the post was interesting nonetheless. MMAsterkillah 03-05-2008, 10:45 PM Pats signed S Tank Williams from the Vikings (easily replaces Eugene Wilson) and are supposedly in talks with Grady Jackson. The only question mark with Tank is his health, the guy tore his left ACL twice. bigbadroy 03-06-2008, 02:20 AM yo killa, now that a lot of free agents have signed gimme a quick mock draft. i need another opinion on something so a quick mock from you could help. you seem to know a lot more about college football than me. MMAsterkillah 03-06-2008, 05:12 AM The top 10 is decent, after that... I need more time... 1. Dolphins - Chris Long I think they are sold (at least enough) to stick with John Beck at QB. If they can trade down they will. Parcells always loves to build defense first, and what better way to start a 3-4 than with a great OLB (who can fill Jason Taylor's shoes, should he leave/retire). 2. Rams - Glenn Dorsey The Rams need DT help despite last year's first rounder Adam Carriker. In the 4-3 defense they could also use Gholston, but Dorsey seems to be rated higher on scouts boards and is firmly solidified as the #1 DT. 3. Falcons - Matt Ryan With the release of QB Joey Harrington, this seems obvious as long as the 'Phins don't trade. 4. Raiders - Jake Long Because the Robert Gallery selection obviously didn't work out, JaMarcus Russell needs a top tier LT to protect him. I think they will be tempted to take McFadden, but I don't see how they could pass on Long, who is a prototypical tackle prospect at 6'7" with 37 bench reps and great footwork. 5. Chiefs - Ryan Clady I am hesitant to say they won't take a DT because they need one, but they really need a RT as well. Ryan Clady has sky rocketed up draft boards since the offseason workouts began and this seems to be the consensus among insiders. 6. Jets - Darren McFadden Yes, they have Thomas Jones, and too many needs to go after a RB, but McFadden is the best player, and NY needs a play-maker. 7. Patriots - Vernon Gholston I believe the Patriots will trade down if possible, but if they do choose in this slot, Gholston is a no-brainer. A guy who can rush the passer with freakish athletic ability, Gholston would seemingly fit in beautifully in the Pats 3-4 defense and inject youth and speed. 8. Ravens - Brian Brohm I think that the Ravens should trade down and look for offensive line help, or take Brohm later... that said, I can't write all that in a mock. If they stick here they could take McKelvin as well. They will take a QB on day one though. 9. Bengals - Philip Merling The Bengals clearly need defensive help. This 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB from Clemson seems to fit the bill. Justin Smith is gone, and they need some pass rushing to help Robert Geather. DT would also be a possibility, but I doubt it with Zimmer coming in. He seems to really like Peko. 10. Saints - Leodis McKelvin McKelvin seems to be Mr. Consistent. He looks good on tape, he ran well at the combine, and he seems to be a good character guy. If he slips past the top 10 I would be surprised and the Saints secondary is in dire need of an upgrade. It's been a while since the Saints had anything resembling a shutdown corner. 11. Bills - Limas Sweed The Bills could certainly use a DE or CB as well, but a WR to compliment Lee Evans wouldn't be a bad idea. Roscoe Parrish and Lee are both speed guys and Limas is 6'4 220 with a good vert and solid speed. If Limas hadn't missed his final year in college, he would certainly be going this high if he does slip. 12. Broncos - Sedrick Ellis A quick but strong 4-3 defensive tackle, Ellis has the burst to rush the passer, but the low stance to clog the middle. Would certainly not work in a 3-4, but I think with the suspension of Marcus Thomas, the Broncos need a DT. 13. Panthers - OLB Keith Rivers With Jon Beason becoming their MLB last year, they could use a little help on the outside. Rivers would seemingly be a great compliment and add more speed to a defense that needs a burst of energy. If there is a high level defensive end available here, I would be surprised if they passed on him. 14. Bears - Jeff Otah With Fred Miller all but dead, the Bears need a capable replacement at RT. WR is also a concern. Jeff Otah is raw, but has all the skills you look for in a future stud at RT. 15. Lions - Aqib Talib I hope Matt Millen realizes he is a moron and just quits before the draft. If he picks, he will probably take a RB, because the offensive philosophy has changed into running the ball. I hope not. 16. Cardinals - Mike Jenkins Although the Cardinals desperately need a pass rusher, and could use a RB, they really need a CB with Antrel Rolle moving to safety. Jenkins will seemingly be available, and would be a safe choice. 17. Vikings - Calais Campbell The Vikings still need help at WR, but I don't see them taking one here. I think they will look for the replacement to Kenechi Udeze, who unfortunately was diagnosed with Leukemia. Campbell is about 6'8, but I'm not sure if he is the pass rusher the Vikes want. 18. Texans - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie The Texans need secondary help. Rodgers-Cromartie is a wild card in this draft because he is as athletic as they come, but hasn't played at a high level of competition. His cousin has helped his draft stock tremendously. 19. Eagles - Derrick Harvey 20. Buccaneers -Kenny Phillips 21. Redskins - Quentin Groves 22. Cowboys - Kentwan Balmer The guy is a beast, and after the Ferguson deal, you guys could use an athletic DT. 23. Steelers - Malcolm Kelly 24. Titans - DeSean Jackson 25. Seahawks -Rashard Mendenhall 26. Jaguars - Branden Albert 27. Chargers - Jeff Otah 28. Cowboys - Felix Jones Just because Jerry is so gay with RBs and you have confirmed that all RB's with the "Jones" surname are welcome additions to the Cowboys. 29. 49ers - Quentin Groves 30. Packers - James Stewart 31*. TRADED BY THE PATRIOTS FOR THE ABILITY TO "CHEAT" FOR 30 SECONDS. 31. Giants - Dan Connor bigbadroy 03-06-2008, 05:18 AM i hate it for 2 reasons. #1 were taking a fucking jones who i want no part of. #2cowboys don't get mcfadden:wah: MMAsterkillah 03-06-2008, 05:31 AM i hate it for 2 reasons. #1 were taking a fucking jones who i want no part of. #2cowboys don't get mcfadden:wah: I'm a lot better at speculating near the draft on what teams are thinking. LOL It is funny how you guys want him so badly. You don't even really need him. I say you guys go in the season with Barber and Warrick Dunn (who supposedly wants to play in the Big D). Then you have two first which I would go DB (Cromartie?) and WR (DeSean Jackson?) in all likelihood. That would add a lot of speed for sure. bigbadroy 03-06-2008, 05:44 AM yeah i heard we have no interest in warrick done(lol cause that's what he is) though. i think we can find a decent 3rd or 4th corner in fa and the 2nd round of the draft. idk i haven't wanted the cowboys to draft a player so bad since Randy moss and look how he turned out. i just feel mcfadden could help us more in the long run than a rookie cb and wr at #22 and #28 in the draft. I also think that because i think dmac is gonna be special. plus history shows we have drafted trash with #22 and #28 1st round picks. I say Warrick still has something left in the tank. He still has his speed and has always been an inconsistent performer (explanation for his bad year last year). I am afraid he will end up in Indy and help the Colts a lot. I don't think you guys have too much at CB behind Newman. Henry is decent, but he doesn't have speed to match up with some guys. Good corners are hard to come by. Hell, the Pats could use a #1. I guess you guys are parting ways with Terry Glenn, and Javon Walker obviously got ridiculously overpaid. Who do you see filling in? bigbadroy 03-06-2008, 05:49 AM Yeah, I can understand your logic. I say Warrick still has something left in the tank. He can be a huge weapon on screens in the open field something that Atlanta never used him on for whatever reason. I want Gholston or DRC but if Mcfaddens there I think the Pats should swap with the Cowboys. Any news on Ty Law? MMAsterkillah 03-08-2008, 12:00 AM No Ty Law news. I liked this guy as a potential #2 or nickelback for years, but let's hope this isn't another "Duane Starks experiment. He has great speed, but never had a great ability to make plays on the ball, and he has been quite injury prone the past 3 seasons. He had an offer on the table from the Broncos, but took the Patriots' offer instead. It looks like the Patriots are doing everything they can to get a lot of depth at the CB position. Lewis Sanders, Jason Webster and now Fernando Bryant are veteran journey men, but that is how the Patriots made a splash in 2001. They signed a bunch of veterans and saw what stuck. Basically it comes down to the fact that Belichick likes Asante, but doesn't think he is a FRANCHISE corner. There really aren't many DB's in the game worth $10 million a year, if you can spend that money dominating the front 7, it makes the defenses job easier. WARRR PATRIOTS! Scouting report via Scouts Inc., Grade 65 Expert's Take Bryant is a nine-year veteran who played with diminishing skills in 2007. He is an averaged sized defender that relied on his great quickness, speed and instincts to be effective out on an island. Bryant still moves well but has lost a step in coverage to stay in receivers hip pockets. He continues to have solid closing burst and effective transition movement in zone coverage but tends to play to cautiously giving too big a cushion. He has been inconsistent in pure man coverage verse the top speed receivers in the league. He is a willing run support player but isnt a physical tackler and can be ineffective rerouting receivers off the line of scrimmage. Bryant plays with great confidence and instincts as he reads route progressions well and anticipates throws to make plays on the ball. He has good natural reacter and bounced back in 2008 with a solid season after missing time the prior three years. Bryant still has talent but his age is showing and he may be best with an established defensive unit that fields impressive pass rushers. EDIT: We seem to have most of these veteran DBs on one year deals. This means only a few will actually play for the PATRIOTS. Keep in mind that Dom Capers has coached Lew Sanders before. bigbadroy 03-20-2008, 07:42 PM Fernando Bryant signed by Patriots. MMAsterkillah 03-31-2008, 09:09 PM PALM BEACH, Fla., – Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Kraft drew a large media crowd at The Breakers, and spoke strongly when asked about the lingering issue of the team’s videotaping procedures. “A newspaper made a damaging allegation about the so-called Matt Walsh affair. I believe it’s something that never happened,” Kraft said. “If so, why wouldn’t -- two months later – anything have come out? But we live in a society where people can make any kind of allegations. But then, it has to be substantiated.” Lawyers for the NFL and Walsh continue to work toward a resolution. Kraft was asked how important it is to him that a resolution is reached so there can be closure to the issue. “I’m looking forward to him speaking, and hopefully cleaning this up and completely exonerating us,” Kraft said. “It’s kind of strange that six or seven years after … I know ourselves and the NFL have done everything we can do to help his lawyers have him speak. “But he never signed any confidentiality statement with us, so as far as I’m concerned, I don’t know why he doesn’t just come out and speak.” The possibility of Walsh never speaking was presented to Kraft. Would Kraft and the Patriots feel comfortable moving forward if that was the case? “We’ve moved forward,” Kraft said. “When anyone attacks you, as an individual … Anyone in this world of 24-hour-a-day media, seven days a week, can attack anything. But it’s about substantiation. Allegations were made and why it took five, six years to come out, and then two months after it’s come out, there is nothing … you folks decide why that hasn’t happened." Kraft, who said he did not remember Walsh, spoke for about 10 minutes and the first question directed to him was about the team’s videotaping procedures. Kraft responded by saying: “We just finished a season where we went 16 games, having the first perfect season. I step back and we broke a rule the first week of the season and we were penalized very heavily for that, and had one of the most amazing … we won 18 games in a row. A day or two before the Super Bowl, a damaging allegation came out that seven weeks later, there has been no confirmation. So, to me, we’re way beyond that. “As I reflect back on this season, I think years from now – and I know our fans feel this way – they’ll relish this season and realize how remarkable it was. It’s something we’re pretty proud of. We’re sorry it didn’t end the way we wanted to, but it was pretty remarkable.” Kraft did acknowledge that he is not over the Super Bowl loss at this point. He also answered a question on whether he feels the franchise's previous three Super Bowls were tainted in any way. “I think we’ve covered the subject. We broke a rule the first week of the season, we were penalized very heavily, and look what happened after that game," he said. "To me, that says more than anything." MMAsterkillah 03-31-2008, 09:12 PM When Gaffney's contract expired after the 2007 season, he told his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, he was only interested in re-signing with the Patriots. MMAsterkillah 03-31-2008, 09:17 PM PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Patriots have considerable talent and depth at running back, yet that isn't stopping team officials from flying Darren McFadden up to Foxborough for a visit. NFL teams are allowed to host up to 30 out-of-town prospects before the draft, and the Patriots' visit with the Arkansas back - scheduled for April 10-11 - should generate buzz relating to New England having the seventh overall draft choice. Is there genuine interest in McFadden? Might it be a smoke screen? Or is it just due diligence as part of the scouting process? bigbadroy 03-31-2008, 09:44 PM PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Patriots have considerable talent and depth at running back, yet that isn't stopping team officials from flying Darren McFadden up to Foxborough for a visit. MMAsterkillah 04-05-2008, 01:04 AM Patriots aren't alone in wanting 'Spygate' controversy to be over with http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/The+Way+We+Hear+It/default.htm “So, I assume you guys want to talk about the ‘force out’ rule?” That was Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s opening line to the throng of reporters who gathered to talk to him at the league’s meeting in Florida this week, a joke used to make light of the “Spygate” situation that was obviously the most pressing issue on the media members’ minds. But as one team source told us, Belichick’s opening quip and generally upbeat mood was indicative of his belief that not only does he have nothing to hide regarding the allegations that the Patriots taped a walk-through before their Super Bowl XXXVI victory over the Rams, but that he’s getting the sense that most league types are similarly sick of the issue. The source also told us that he highly doubts former cameraman Matt Walsh will speak out on the matter. Walsh has insinuated that he knows something shady about the Patriots’ practices, although we hear that, at this point, Walsh is regretting being a bit loose-lipped in a smattering of interviews with a couple of media outlets a few months ago. Now, Walsh, who works as an assistant golf pro in Hawaii and has a wife and baby, wants this saga to be over with so he can get on with his life. According to a source, reports that he’s grandstanding for attention are utterly erroneous. MMAsterkillah 04-08-2008, 06:55 AM The tit-for-tat between the New York Jets and New England Patriots continued on Monday, with the Pats signing one of the Jets’ free agents. Specifically, the Pats have agreed to terms with linebacker Victor Hobson on a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter of NFL Network. Hobson, a second-round pick in 2003, has spent all five of his NFL seasons with the Jets. He started 14 games in 2007, 16 games in 2006, and 16 games in 2005. "I'm not trying to go in thinking whether I'm a safety or a corner or whether I'm a kicker or quarterback. I'm just going in to be an athlete. Whatever my team needs, I'll do." (And we’re hearing that something could happen as soon as today.) Writes King: “I can’t imagine Roger Goodell stepping in front of the media Saturday at the draft and figuring out some other way to say, ‘I think we’re close to a deal with him’ in some different way than he’s said it 53 times in the last two months.” Amen. The last thing the league needs is another sideshow to distract from the draft. Remember last year’s Mike Vick fiasco? Vick was in attendance at Radio City Music Hall in connection with the league’s tribute to the victims of the Virginia Tech shootings, only days after more than 50 dogs were removed from his property in Virginia. “I’m never at the house,” Vick said while in New York. “I left the house with my family members and my cousin. They just haven’t been doing the right thing.” (And if you don’t know the rest of that story, we suggest that you cut the hair, shave the beard, and trim the nails that have been growing during your prolonged coma.) Though Goodell is certain to be asked about the impact of Pacman’s hush money payment to the strip club shooter, Goodell can avoid being pressed about the chronic lack of a deal with Walsh if a deal with Walsh can get done. (For those of you who were in a prolonged coma, Walsh has strongly hinted that he knows something about previously undisclosed cheating activities by the Patriots. A February 2 report from the Boston Herald claiming that the Pats videotaped the Rams walk-through practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI is widely believed to have been based on off-the-record information supplied by Walsh.) They used draft picks in rounds 1-2-3-3. - They got a 2nd rounder for next year for pick #69. - Presumably they got who they wanted in round 2, given how long it took them to make the selection (immediately took Wheatley). My favorite pick of the draft. - They got who they wanted with the lower 3rd-rounder, as they were on the phone with Crable about taking him at #69, then made the SD trade, then still got him at #78. - It sure sounds like they hit their target with O'Connell at #94. +We gave #7 and our 5th rounder to NO for #10 and their 3rd rounder. +We gave Oakland's 3rd rounder from this year to SD for the 2009 2nd plus a 5th. bigbadroy 06-25-2008, 07:31 PM who were you guys l;ining up at the #2 wr spot in ota's? In all honesty, by the Superbowl Stallworth was our #4 guy behind Gaffney. Supposedly Jackson looks awesome, and Gaffney stuck around for cheap so he could be the #2 guy. I cannot wait to be blessed enough to watch this team again. bigbadroy 06-25-2008, 08:02 PM Gaffney and Chad Jackson were rotating. Who knows maybe the pro coaching will help him, but from what I've seen he is more of a special-teams demon. His speed, size and jumping abilities are unquestionable though, so that could be a good sleeper. HipnotiK 06-26-2008, 12:09 AM WAR GIANTS :victory: Wandy4LIFE 06-26-2008, 02:50 AM I think Mayo is going to be unstoppable with Bill Belichick leading the charge mentally defensively. I think Crable is a guy that with proper coaching can put on 15-20 pounds and become an absolute force on the outside. I am hoping Wheatley can get it done since our cornerbacks are not nearly as elite as the other positions. I'm not worried about WR at all. Gaffney and Chad Jackson will be stellar and you will see more of Welker in motion going outside and in motion from outside coming into the slot. We are going to maxmize Wes' abilities and implement a heavy dose of Gaff or Chad or both. bigbadroy 07-01-2008, 06:03 PM Patriots Player Faces Gun Assault Charge Woman Says Andrews Threatened Her With Gun POSTED: 3:02 pm EDT June 30, 2008 UPDATED: 3:18 pm EDT June 30, 2008 BOSTON -- A New England Patriots defensive back is accused of pointing a gun at his fiancee's head in Mansfield on Monday after she accused him of cheating on her. The woman told police that she confronted Willie Andrews, 24, in a bedroom of his apartment on Sunday night, according to the Sun Chronicle. She said that Andrews was waving the gun and that it touched her temple, the newspaper reported. The woman called 911, and when police arrived, Andrews allowed police to search his car. Police did not find a gun. The woman took her child to a hotel, police said. Early Monday morning, police saw Andrews talking to the woman in the hotel parking lot. She told police that she was scared because he "threatened to shoot her in the past." Andrews was later arrested at his apartment and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Earlier this year, Andrews was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after police allegedly found him with a half-pound of marijuana.
